If Tyson spurns UM the ensuing meltdown would IMO reach epic proportions the likes of which we’ve never seen. Where would it rank amongst some other famous recruiting board meltdowns?

Doubt it, these meltdowns are common place. The bottom line is that if this gets ****ed up Rumph needs to be fired. You can't continue to put up with this type of incompetence in recruiting as the CEO of a major football program.

Antone Smith is the worst I remember because it was so shocking. Nobody thought he really had any interest in FSU. He had named Miami as his leader throughout most of his recruitment but did give a fairly lukewarm review of his visit that everybody sort of ignored. His is the worst I remember because with all the others you could see what was happening or you knew that they weren’t coming to Miami.

Antone Smith was the worst by far. There have been a lot of dramatic cases over the years. John Capel, Albert Poree, Osa Nosa are a few more. Andre Carter was disappointing but IIRC we knew about it ahead of time, not signing day. All 3 big schools thought they had a shot at Anquan Boldin, we thought we got the better player in Jason Geathers. Some of the happiest moments were Kyle Wright, DJ Williams, Willie Williams, Arthur Brown, James Bryant. The drama with Lesean McCoy was bizarre, as was Colon and "Coach Squeak". Alex Collins' mom deal was weird, reportedly refusing to sign the LOI for a while.

I think that was the same class that we got Sam Shields who turned out to be a legitimate DB.

I will say though, looking back on it glad we didn't land old matty patch. Dude was serious bust and somehow got shot at a party. Ya no thanks...media would be had a field day with that.
