2017 SDE/DT Alec Jackson from Jefferson Davis HS in Alabama presents an interesting blend of size and quickness with whole lot of good ole fashion country strong thrown for good measure. The 6'5" 270lbs defensive end put on 30lbs during his junior year off season (with NO BAD WEIGHT) and worked on improving his weakness which the Alabama staff was kind enough to point for him at camp during his sophomore to junior year summer. So Jackson played his junior season with those improvements on his mind all while also hitting the weights hard. So when he returned to bama last summer he was not only bigger but he also maintained his speed and improved his technique which allowed him to this time earn an offer at the camp.

Alec Jackson did stop there he also took his camp performance show on the road to the west coast where at USC's camp going up against oline players such as Alex Leatherwood and Navaughn Donaldson he earned one of the MVP spots. The interesting note here is that Jonathan Ford and Jordan Wright where also at the same USC camp an showed out as well.

Jackson had Miami rounding out his Top 10 list earlier this summer with Florida as his # 1 school. But with the way Miami's season is lining up to be a very good season and UF being full at dline for 2017, things could shape up nicely for UM to make a late run Jackson if Miami decides to add another dlinemen to the 2017 class. Jackson would be a mismatch for most OG/OC to block one on one as a 3-tech or 1 -tech Defensive tackle in Miami's 4-3 scheme. Jackson is a classic big ole country boy that can run who is extremely coach-able that we see littering SEC rosters, Coach Kool could easily cut and polish this rough diamond into a beast. He reminds me a lot former Miss St Defensive End Chris Jones. It will be interesting to see how Jackson's recruitment progresses, he was just named to the 2016 Bama-Miss HS all star game.

He is 6'5" 270lbs, Jackson is a DT now, lol. By spring he will be 280lbs easily and I think his ideal weight would be 300lbs by the start of his redshirt freshman year.

I'm a 9th generation Floridian. My family lived in Florida before it was a state. It is in my DNA. Dad played for FSU (football), Uncle for UF (baseball), brother for Florida Southern (baseball), and I worked for UM Athletics for two years.

You sir are a true Florida Crack'er (meant in the precolonial settler historical sense, I am a history buff and it is amazing you can trace your lineage back that far. I love going to St. Augustine visiting the historical sites they are amazing).

Got to love a bad *** dlinemen who not only makes the honor roll, but gets A's in AP Stats. Coach Kool has to pull this kid into the 2017 class.

2016 Senior year highlights for Alec Jackson. This young man plays grown man style of defense. He would very good under coach Kool.
