Alabama and Racism

The university of Alabama still allows "white only" fraternities. Not traditionally white, or majority white but white-only. As in members of other races are forbidden to join. That is all.

Link ?

I'm sure it's the same rules as all black fraternities. Will eat crow if it isn't.

U. of Alabama Greeks Win Fight For Their Right to Be Racist ****s

Enjoy the crow sandwich.

We are a society of victims, in every instance there's always a victim.

The Alabama football players are being cheered on by racists.

Black athletes are being married off to sacrificial white women to "white wash" their money.

UM SuperFans are attention whores on national TV

The Alabama football players go to Alabama because perhaps the GOAT college football coach thinks their the best at what they do.

The Alabama student go to school there because 80% of them are from Alabama. Oh, and surprise, they're Alabama fans, too.

Black athletes marry white women because in the modern world, you can fall in love and marry who you choose.

It's ironic that the, "look at me, I don't see color because I am so progressive" types are the ones who perpetuate this notion that black athletes are too socially vulnerable to know any better when they marry outside their race. It's actually one of the more offensive concepts I've seen perpetuated.

More Cubans vote republican because they're so psychologically traumatized by Castro that they melodramatically equate any social welfare/ethics that the democrats might support as left-wing dictator nonsense from their socio-cultural-political past. Nevermind that the guy they recently supported and his fascist tendencies are much more in line with Castro, but that's an argument for another day.

Yawn

Majority of Americans are tired of being called racist, sexist, homophobic, islamaphobic, trannyphobic, fascist, ****, etc.
Doesn't work anymore.

The vote was 21-5 to effectively kill the resolution. Not even a close vote and not a good reflection on their Greek System/student body. That vote doesn't happen at Miami.

Now that you have your answer regarding the Greek system at BAMA; For those that feel like the word racism is over used and people are making this stuff up; What are you going to do? And for those that want to be included in places that clearly don't want them; What are you going to do? It's like UM wanting the Alabama swag. They stole it from U!!! Why do you want to be Greek anyway?

Please don't link Huffington or Gawker as news sources. Dailymail is fine.. even though it doesn't say much of substance. After reading further on the matter, I don't think there is anything of substance to report.

Upvote for at least linking something, even if I don't consider it factual. JMO

You know these PWI set a lot of these very heralded and regarded black athletes with white women. They do it for a reason. Btw I don't give a **** who you ****. You are crazy or naive if you don't think the PWI set these players up with white women as a way to try and control them. IMO when a black athlete leaves their neighborhood, I know they are not all poor, and hit it big . . . they are less likely to return to their community and invest to make it better when attached to a white woman.

So here it is:

Black posters who have lived in an urban setting will agree with me.
White posters that value social justice will agree with me.
The uninformed will think Im nuts.
Those that think the poor are poor because they are too lazy to do anything will think Im nuts.

Im white. I teach in an inner city school because I believe for too many kids in the area I work, their teachers are their best hope to move upwards socially.

I guess David Ortiz didn't get your memo.

I know who David Ortiz is. Im not sure who he dates or is married to. And in case the reference to him is because he has views similar to Charles Barkley, thats great we are free to think the way we want. I actually like Charles Barkley!

Or maybe you are saying Ortiz wouldnt agree with me because he doesn't think PWI set up their very gifted black athletes with a white girl.

Clearly we are dealing in shades of grey, not black and white absolutes. I don't think every gifted black athlete gets set up with a white girl. I do believe that there are "many" that are. I have no issues with it, except when it is the PWI's way of trying to control a kid. **** who doesn't want to be set up with a ****ing hottie?

He's married to a white woman from Milwaukee. He is one of the most charitable and altruistic individuals in both the US and his native DR. I guess his wife isn't doing a good job of controlling him and his reinvestment in his community. Let's get him divorced and married to a Kardashian.

what the **** are you talking about? there are plenty of black men married to white women. there are plenty of white men married to black women. **** there may be an uptick on black and white men marrying. and while were talking about david let me ask you, does he consider himself dominican, black, both, or something else?

furthermore . . . the point was that these PWIs mange to get some of their top black athletes around and hooked up with white women as a means of disconnecting them from their community and controlling them.

feel free to disagree, but for every ortiz ill raise you rg3.

you all probably don't believe that there is a such thing as white privilege. of course when society tells white subculture that the poor are poor because they are lazy, and we see poor black people, well **** . . . black people must be lazy . . .

No matter your skin color. If you live anywhere on this planet where a persons basic human rights; freedom, justice and equality are denied and you don't speak up and stand up against those that opposed that right; you are just as guilty of being a racist as those that are on the front line publicly denying those people of their right. This includes those apart of that race as well as those outside that race. Being silent makes you just as guilty; looking the other way makes you just as guilty; fleeing your own country and leaving others behind makes you just as guilty; and having a few friends of the victimized race for your conscious therapy but still afraid to speak up and stand up makes you just as guilty. These kinds of people are in existence throughout the Canes fan base as well as others. So clean your own house up before you try to clean others or try to tell someone that their house needs cleaning!

You're right. Over the last 10 months (off the top of my head) i've seen Cane fans suggest Njoku's parents breed more children (outside their marriage) to play football here; young black men's birth names being mocked and ridiculed for pages on end; aspersions being cast about athletes' abilities based on smiling for a picture or not, and how many gold teeth they have; aspersions about their SES, education, manner in which they speak, and the promiscuity of their mothers... I'm sure if everyone thought about it there would be much more to add, but with the regularity of the racially insensitive objectification of teenage young men on this site, you'd think some more people would speak out. There is more outrage from Cane fans for suggesting racists go to football games at Alabama than there is for the insensitive filth posted on this site in jest or not. If we don't address these micro-incidents of bigotry, then here we sit parsing hyperbole while fielding faux outrage over the percentage of racists in the Alabama fanbase.

You can't call for an Admin when the kitchen gets hot. Agreeing with me comes with negs. I hope that you are ready to stand in the paint because when Franchise and the rest of the sheep finds out about this your Shepard's are going to have a fit!!! You won't get your go along to get along trophy this year..... LMAO!!!

I'm not calling for an Admin. I'm suggesting the Canes fans miffed about someone suggesting racists live in Alabama, be equally indignant about the daily dehumanizing of young black teenagers from Miami. Moreover, i'm suggesting the entire body of CIS, no matter your skin color (including the silent majority), police itself better with regard to this type of content.

We are good. I understand and agree. Just wanted you to be fully aware of how all of the ethnics on this site will come at you for taking that conscious position; including those of your own race.

It's Alabama's perpetuation of segregation the OP suggested, which has been established using the Greeks. I don't think anyone outside Alabama wants to live there or be in a racist Greek sorority on their campus.

Close thread already

Let it play out. Being scared to address racial issues is part of the problem. To many people are holding their true feelings inside. Let it out you will feel better. So many people have taken this approach over the weekend until the tick count has dramatically dropped. This is a sign that we just might be getting somewhere.

It's like having two best friends that don't get along and they argue every time yawl go out. Sometimes you should just step back and let them settle it. In this case we have White Bears vs Black & Brown Bears; Brown Bears vs Black & White Bears; Mixed Bears vs Black, White & Brown Bears. All fighting for a place to sleep in this zoo!!!

With all the knowledge of self that we claim to have of ourselves today; Why should we care if they choose to have a segregated fraternity or sorority? Alabamians are within their right to have these types of exclusive clubs if they so choose. I think we do ourselves a disservice by trying to include ourselves among people that clearly don't want our company. Fugum! What's so bad about our own clubs on these campuses that we feel the need to push our way into others?

Great post, Canetomm. You gotta realize, we live in a really dumbed down society right now, which is why your fellow Canes will have no clue what you are saying. You raise some great points.

For those that insist on inclusion into these secret societies. Following the establishment of Kappa Alpha Society, an untimely event occurred that would come to shape the public perception of fraternities for decades. In 1826, a man named William Morgan professed himself to be a high-ranking member of the Freemasons and said he intended to publish their secrets. He then disappeared and was assumed murdered or abducted. What was the secrete? Why do they want to keep it from you? Do the research and you will find the true meaning behind these secret crossovers. Before you go there, don't stop at some Illuminati BS, keep searching.

Yawn, Mason's are so hyped. This isn't the 50s anymore.

Paraphrasing Thomas Sowell, to some people today racism is like ketchup, you can put it on anything.
