Do you guys remember the excitement generated for the 2009 season(Shannon's 3rd year)?

How our offense was going to be unstoppable, no team being able to cover our receivers and a veteran DC?

Practice reports further brought excitement by players providing insight about the tempo and amount of route combinations and formations that were utilized.

Then the season started strong with two victories over our rival and a team that blew us out the year before in what many were predicting to be an 0-4 start.

I say all that to say I truly believe that this season will be a tremendous one and you will further see the development of guys resulting in a very different style of play than under the previous regime.

I'm really excited to see Duke take off, our secondary, our O-line pushing guys off the ball on run plays, Stephen Morris slinging it, more sacks, more aggressive play and overall a structured team with an identity.

It has been amazing what tremendous patience most of our fans have had. People get caught up in buzz, practice reports, recruiting classes but do you really realize that we haven't won 10 games since 2003? We haven't won a bowl game since 2006. That is truly mind boggling. That's why I really don't get caught up in bashing UF's arrest record or FSU being ranked so high only to have 4-loss seasons. We need to be taking care of business at home 1st.

With fall camp under way on Saturday here's to a season of really enjoying 'Cane football and the style of play and culture that made us all 'Cane fans.

The start of that '09 schedule was absurd.

Has any team ever played their four hardest games first?

I don't recall the 2009 team having a bunch of preseason hype. I recall us surprising the crap out of the "experts" by beating a hyped FSU team at their house and then walloping a top 10 Georgia Tech team on Thursday night on national television.

Jim Rome went from calling out Jacory for making fun of Tebow's virginity to praising Jacory and predicting Heismans for him, all in a two week period.

It was the 2010 team that was hyped up, based on the 2009 results and the fact that we returned most everybody. And that team fell flat on its face and cost Shannon his job.

Yea the 2010 team was the one with excessive hype and that didn't end too well.

Actually it did. Shannon got fired......

After starting 3-1 that. 2009 team should have finished 10-2. No excuses.

Clemson loss is still one of the most gut wrenching losses.

I went from wondering how many we were going to beat them by, to being a bit disappointed that we would beat them in decent fashion, to praying we'd pull out a barn burner, to being absolutely astonished as jacoby ford crossed the goal line in OT.

Isn't that the one where Thanks, Randy called a TO and Whipple called him a dumb **** on the side lines?

Yes, I used to have a gif of it. Someone please post it. They also started yelling at each other after Randy called it. The expression on Mike James' face during their exchange is priceless.

Pannunzio had to calm him down and drag him into the locker room to keep him away from Randy.

Also featured in the Clempsum game was us kicking off right into the arms of the best kickoff returner in college football, right before halftime.

Start at 47:30 for the lulz. Between 47:30 and 51:30 epitomizes the nonsense that was the Shannon era. And the look on whipples face starts at 51:20 lol
