Building chemistry: Everyone now does what they need to do. Mature team. Not even close to a year ago (maturity wise). Guys in the right place, taking care of business. "Putting it in the bank" every day. Easy to have fun. Reward them with trust, and thats how the team grows.

-400 people at practice on Thursday. Many people notice the difference in attitude and competitiveness. Good unity and work ethic.

-Practice is open door. Some coaches showed up Tuesday and didn't leave. Attended meetings, watched film with the Miami coaches, etc.

Will freshman still need to play this year?: No question. We are not fully there yet. Doubard is already in the mix. Edwards at RB. Coley at WR. Sonny at OT. Burns/Carter in the secondary...AQM...days of redshirting everyone are gone. Guys want to play. Also mentioned Grace.

On Stephen Morris: Took a big leadership step last year, and now as a Sr. has a better leadership platform. Played great to end the year. He understands the concepts (easily adapted to Coley). Often very difficult for guys in college and then in the NFL. He can't lose his edge. Competition is no longer in the building, it is national at other schools.

On mental breakdowns on defense:It has "calmed down" for so many of the kids. 2 straight years of kids thrown out there (suspensions, no depth, etc.) Playing faster, more confidence. Have to keep at it. Mentioned all the LBs making progress. CBs are competing hard. Now a veteran group.

Easter for the out of state kids: "Nobody left behind" policy. They make sure the OOS kids (Doubard, Beau, etc) get taken care of. Local kids mom's host the kids for the day.

Consider the group of players that did not participate in spring practice last year:

Morris
Duke
Bush
Howard
IIRC all our WR's were hurt

Just having those types of guys out there right now is huge

**** it's going to be a long off season with this man coming on the radio chumming the waters.

By opening day it's going to be amazing.

Well put. Along with all those Freshman last year as well adapting to the transition to college ball. We saw those vids last year of Al getting on Tyriq, players heading for the shade. Now they know what to expect day in day out. I expect players like McCord, Kirby, Howard etc to really take a step forward.

The fact we still have to play freshmen should be enough of a reason to know this D will still struggle at times.

I agree. The fact that Golden failed to mention anything about the DL, despite the brevity of the interview, also worries me. Our season hinges on that unit.

He only mentioned Burns and Carter in the secondary. ****, id have no problem plugging them both in day one based on who we currently have back there. If anything its a testament to how good they are. I dont really see any other true frosh other than AQM and the two mentioned before really getting leaned on that much on defense though. Kirby, McCord, Howard, Gunter, Jenkins, Ivery, Moore, Terry etc all have a chance to step up with Bond and Figueroa coming in. If any freshman take them over id like to think they deserve it. Defense will be hella better this year. Might take until week 4 or 5 to really see it, but im a believer in their progression.

Golden gets me fired up and ready to play. I can only imagine how the players feel when they hear this guy.

We get a great measuring stick early on with the UF game. We'll have a good idea of what type of team this is after that. That game is huge
