Building chemistry: Everyone now does what they need to do. Mature team. Not even close to a year ago (maturity wise). Guys in the right place, taking care of business. "Putting it in the bank" every day. Easy to have fun. Reward them with trust, and thats how the team grows.
-400 people at practice on Thursday. Many people notice the difference in attitude and competitiveness. Good unity and work ethic.
-Practice is open door. Some coaches showed up Tuesday and didn't leave. Attended meetings, watched film with the Miami coaches, etc.
Will freshman still need to play this year?: No question. We are not fully there yet. Doubard is already in the mix. Edwards at RB. Coley at WR. Sonny at OT. Burns/Carter in the secondary...AQM...days of redshirting everyone are gone. Guys want to play. Also mentioned Grace.
On Stephen Morris: Took a big leadership step last year, and now as a Sr. has a better leadership platform. Played great to end the year. He understands the concepts (easily adapted to Coley). Often very difficult for guys in college and then in the NFL. He can't lose his edge. Competition is no longer in the building, it is national at other schools.
On mental breakdowns on defense:It has "calmed down" for so many of the kids. 2 straight years of kids thrown out there (suspensions, no depth, etc.) Playing faster, more confidence. Have to keep at it. Mentioned all the LBs making progress. CBs are competing hard. Now a veteran group.
Easter for the out of state kids: "Nobody left behind" policy. They make sure the OOS kids (Doubard, Beau, etc) get taken care of. Local kids mom's host the kids for the day.
