Air Raid in 3 minutes

Think the target audience for his video is HS.

I believe we're going to "add" to what he described and try to, as other people have stated, "bro" in different run game action.

I think there were two keys in his message and overall:

(1) we'll have Air Raid principles in the passing game. And, the higher power willing, entirely more space with which to operate than what we saw last season,
(2) Simplicity

There's my 6 line summary. For whatever that's worth.

Pretty sure i used to play this guy online back in day, great guy.. I think he is a high school coach also.. Its crazy how far back lawst we are just getting to 2000 offenses that air raid principles made it to NFL while we tried to bring back neadrathal football while getting smacked by dregs of cfb..

Too advanced for 85% of this board

I think we will have air raid concepts in the passing game, but I don’t think we will have a simple 3 play running game. Tempo is also an air raid staple, but I don’t see that happening much since it wasn’t a priority for him in Houston.

For those who want to understand thr general concepts.

I implemented this stuff when I left the high school level and went down to coach the middle school kids, a few years back. It was a simplified version and the Kids took to it like ducks to water. The school hadn’t won a game in the two years prior. 2 years later, we were undefeated and playing in the championship game.

How is this air raid going to fit with what MC is used to doing. I can't see how people are constantly optimistic about the past yrs with personal choices. When do we see the writing on the wall. WTF.

I understand the WRs feast in this environment. We apparently don’t have the “speed studs” to succeed (I get that this will motivate them to come here though). Also, how do the likes of Samson and Francis feel about an offense like this where they aren’t given the same responsibilities of holding off a rusher for a long count for a play to develop but instead keep the qb clean but so do the quick strikes and tempo. Also, doesn’t sound like much mauling up front in run game (although lots of one-on-one blocking to showcase abilities is wide formations). Makes me think that we will work air raid into pro style hybrid to try to keep all happy. Not sure if this works or blows up. Will be interesting to see what spring ball looks like.

I was also initially concerned but it seems the Air Raid can choose whichever runs Mario wants to incorporate. Counter Trey, pin/pull, power O, inside zone, trap, and draw. They can even incorporate 2 back.

The concern will be whether Mario will mandate a 50/50 call play versus allowing the OC to take what the defense gives them even if it's 70/30. He said last year he wants the year to average 50/50 but understands that some weeks it might be 60/40 or 40/60.

The air raid is dependant designed to be a pass-heavy system, so any power run plays should be used sparingly and strategically to keep defenses honest and prevent them from keying in on the passing game.

My feeling is Mario wants the team to be able to do whatever is needed at the moment so he doesn't want a team that can't run for 1-2 yards when they are needed. (I hope)

space and race in the passing game. Ball comes out quicker, add some tempo in spurts, can still line up traditionally and bang heads when needed. Can still be balanced in ratio of run to pass with either action. At least that would be my ideal version of it in our case.

This is entry level Air Raid in it's purest form. Now look at what guys who moved on from the Leach system have evolved into. Tempo and space create explosive plays in both the pass and run game.
