Ain’t no Worries being at 18 in the Croot Ranks

I agree with almost everything that you said. I think Brooks and Crowley will become 4s, but I just don’t see Holley dominating enough to the scouts to receive a 4th one. I do think that he’s worthy of one though.
He’s a guy not as in the public as the others, but his features have steadily increased since June. He may not have a high enough profile just yet, but I think it will grow over the fall.

Payton, Solomon, Huff are easy 5* for me.

Hodges, Crowley, Munoz are definite 4*s. All simple projections that will be quality role players.

The rest I either haven't evaluated or they haven't shown enough to be certain about their projection yet.

For those worried about Miami’s recruiting ranking, and the abundance of 3 stars, get used to articles like this. Our coaches are very good to great evaluators and I see more 3s popping to 4s over this season.

I see Harvey, Payton, Huff and Couch strengthening their 4s, Crowley, Brooks and Holley become strong 4s from their current 3s, and Brownlee and Munoz also breaking into the 4s by season end.

Add in the 6-7 major recruits I see us bringing in over the course of the season, I see us finishing with another top 10 finish.

I stated in another thread that we will end up with more "blue chippers" (4-5 stars) in the 19 class than we had in the 18 class and I still stand by that.

You really believe that Solomon is a top 30 national player?

You really believe that Solomon is a top 30 national player?

Very few people can make the distinction to say a high school player that’s really very very good, like Solomon, doesn’t belong in the top 30.

Why do I say this, because to actually have a worthwhile opinion like this, you would have literally had to have watched hundreds of hours of video not just on Solomon, but on at least 40 or 50 other players. You haven’t done that.

Therefore you have absolutely no idea if he doesn’t belongs in the top 30, because you just don’t have enough information.

It’s just a wild crapshoot guess on your part, based on watching literally seconds of YouTube highlights on a small handful of players.

Get real.

None of us do yet we are on this site in threads like this every single week. It’s about discussion and I asked a question. I wasn’t being a **** it was as a simple question. Now, obviously I was inferring that I disagreed with his assessment that he is a top 30 national player with that question and you are right my opinion just like his and yours is amateur at best but once again, what’s the point of this board then? Now while as you pointed that I haven’t watched 100s of videos on the kid, I have followed recruiting to make an educated guess that a kid like Solomon isn’t a top 30 national player. Notice I didn’t mention Huff or Payton in that question. Solomon is a nice prospect who will fit in perfectly in our system, but he doesn’t jump off screen as a top 30 can’t miss prospect. He isn’t a Patrick Peterson, Julio Jones, Lingard or Mark Pope. He is athletic and should grow into the position but he isn’t athletic next level and/or a complete game changer. Now I would love to hear why you or the other poster disagree with my assessment.

I’m not so delusional as to think I can offer a precise opinion as to where in the numerical order a good recruit like him would rank.

And I don’t pretend to follow recruiting that closely, but I know what I don’t know. Some people think they know but they don’t know.

Every year, there’s probably only a small handful of “can’t miss” prospects. I’m talking maybe a consensus dozen or less. The kind that shine in high school almost every play, playing against top competition. Even with those, there are some that flame out. Beyond that it’s all a guessing game with literally hundreds of excellent four star prospects.

That’s why I don’t think anybody, unless their full time job is high school recruiting, can tell us if somebody belongs in the top 30 or not. You might say he doesn’t belong in the top 10 but there’s not that many can’t miss prospects and those are the ones you would put in the top 10.

Yet here you are on a recruiting board in a thread talking about Miami commits and their rankings. This is the exact place for amateurs to talk about this very subject and what we were doing til your grumpy *** showed up. @DMoney lets close this thread and board up, none of us are qualified to share our opinions about where a recruit is properly ranked....

Probably not.

My interpretation of a 5* is different than the recruiting sites. A 5* or blue-chip prospect to me is a player who is among the best at his position and projects safely as an impact starter. I don't have arbitrary requirements to meet quotas for a ranking database system. I haven't evaluated a full class in years but if I did I'd estimate 25-50 valid 5* prospects every year.

So yeah I'm comfortable saying Solomon is a top 50 player at least. His versatility, technique and movement skills remind me of Lavonte David. But he's obviously much better at the same age.

Appreciate the constructive response even if we may disagree. Solomon is a stud and an intriguing prospect. Lavonte and Beason are great examples of how a kid that is kinda a tweeter can fill out and become a **** monster at the next level. Personally I like Huff more but obviously that is right now. Am happy both are Canes. I can be extremely critical with our recruiting but the staff took care of business at LB this cycle, a position of need to boot.

Did I say no one should give their opinion? Nope.

But don’t expect to go unchallenged on a message board.

I stand by my point, very few are able to so precisely say someone belongs or not on something so arbitrary as a top 30. Or at least I don’t buy it.

There are several posters here, in addition to the regular writers, that have a lot to contribute with first hand knowledge, especially about south Florida athletes. Several of these posters follow recruiting closely, some are coaches, and I find their input valuable. There’s a lot to be gleaned recruiting recruits’ athletic attributes, skills, temperament, etc., from these posters.

But don’t think for a second that anyone’s exempt from getting called out by someone for disagreements or differences of opinion..

I don’t have a problem getting called out whatsover and completely agree that very few on here are qualified to make precise calls and said as much in my first response. Once again though, this Is the place where anyone and everyone comes to give their opinion. You didn’t challenge me with a rebuttal about why you disagreed on Solomon, you went and tried to discredit me as having no authority making such a statement as though you are any different in that regard. All over me suggesting that Solomon is not a top 30 national recruit, which I would put money on that the ‘several posters’ you deem as having valuable input would agree.

Your entire first response was some sanctimonious CIS nonsense about how only certain people are worthy of posting their recruiting opinions on a recruiting board. Focus on the subject at hand, add to it or keep it moving. I believe that is something the founders of this board want on this site. Not cluttering with technicalities on who is qualified to make a statement about a recruit especially an innocuous one as saying Solomon isn’t a 5 star recruit.
