What does everyone think about doing something like an ACC-SEC challenge in football like we do with the big 10 in bball? A few teams already have a permanent rival and both conferences are making a push for tougher scheduling.

LMAO wut? .... who just starts rivalries...
Pretty sure that's not what he meant.

The kickoff classic like niner referred to is nice, but it would be mutually good for both conferences if you added a mandatory ACC game to SEC schedules, and vice-versa...and rotate them around yearly. It's another Power-5 Conference foe, and since the geographic footprints overlap, it's a win-win...traveling wouldn't be that bad for teams/fanbases, and it would help everyone's SOS...which is a bigger deal now with the Top 4 BCS deal.

I like it.

Needs one. Would be great for recruiting if MIAMI can say they beat $ec teams regularly.

I mean, it certainly helps our SOS, but theirs? Would love to hear the reaction of a Miss St. or Tenn or Ole Miss hearing they have to add a game against the likes of BC, UNC or Pitt.

This will never happen. You think the SEC is going to give up total control of their scheduling?

Cmon...you're talking about a conference full of coward teams, coward coaches, and coward AD's who routinely schedule more home games per season than road games and always refuse the Canes home & home series. Must play at neutral site that is NEVER neutral.

Fvck those fhaggotts.

Ok other than Bama and LSU, what teams in the SEC that don't already have ACC rivals are great or even good every single year? Tenn? Arky? The mississippis? Vandy? Mizzou?

If you replace an FCS game with an ACC game, then it's a lock to be better. And it's probably better to play an ACC squad, even a lower-tier one, than most Sun Belt squads.

Plus, the buzz and revenue that could be generated for ESPN by sponsoring such a challenge setup would probably be a pretty good motivating factor.

Yeah, but honestly with the exception of the top 4-5 teams in the SEC, the rest of them can be beat by anyone. The 3 teams you named could lose to most of the ACC. I think it would be great. But HAD to be home and home series. **** on all that neutral sight madness!

I hear Jeremy Foley LOVES this idea! What we all need to start doing in the age of the Playoff where the $EC will eventually be exposed (once we stop giving them two guaranteed spots) is just ignore them. A few years of non-relevance championship-wise and what will they be? Just a bunch of inbreds in small market towns that will suddenly have the dollar figure of their tv deal questioned. Don kowtow to them and beg for these home (their home) and neutral site (50 miles from their home) games. Schedule those with the other major conferences with teams from areas that you'd like to recruit better (since they ALL want to recruit here). Everyone needs to stop overexaggerating the $EC's overall influcence too. That only resulted from their willingness to cheat to a smaller extent and laziness by university presidents to a larger extent. A wannabe $EC good ol' boy like Emmert should have never been given that job when all one needs to do is look at endowment figures of non-$EC schools versus the garbage institutions (sans Vandy) in the conference. The Big Ten alone should be ashamed at the amount of power they ceded to these hillbillies.

**** fine post! This really sums it all up.

The only way legitimate, tough OOC games become a constant reality is when the playoff is large enough that teams from power conferences can lose multiple games and still qualify. Nice idea, give it 20/30 years.

Or if the committee ever has the cojones to favor a team with the stones to schedule these games over ones that hide within the false reputation of their conference schedule. I'm personally not holding my breath on that one as even though I mentioned the $EC being exposed it won't come via that route. It'll be a few years of poor performance by that second team that is gifted a playoff spot every year.
