Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett filed a lawsuit against the NCAA in January. Yesterday, he filed a reply to the NCAA's attempt to have the lawsuit thrown out.

In yesterday’s filing, he criticized the NCAA for it’s recent admission of its own misconduct in the Miami case. “It is ironic that the NCAA attempts to maintain a pious tone throughout its brief ... in light of its recent revelations about its own misconduct while investigating the University of Miami."

Not that I don't dig the links you post, tex...but you gotta do something about the titles of your threads. These aren't Random Thoughts.

I dont care much for the Penn State thing, but the NCAA crossed the line with that outrageous fine.....$60 million??? If i was the governor of that state, I would have choked the Sh*t out of Emmert by now....as tough as the economy is and they taking that much state money OUT OF THE STATE...lmao, you must be crazy

These are not the folks I want to get into bed with.

Or a locker room shower, either.

History will reveal the botched Miami investigation and subsequent public exposure to be the final straw, but Emmert's demise began with his handling of the Penn State situation. What Sandusky is alleged to have done is sickening. Bad stuff. Criminal stuff. But at the end of the day, there likely wasn't a single NCAA rule broken. It was a criminal matter that the grandstanding NCAA president broke precedent in order to jump into. What right does the NCAA have to impose a $60 million fine on a state-run university? The man can't help himself and thus soon, perhaps while sunning in Hawaii this week, he'll be calling favors in his search for a new gig.

It's hard to be on the side of Penn St. but if they can uncover more dirt on the NCAA then so be it. It's hard to say that they were wronged though. Even though their fate was worse than the "Death Penalty".

If any program ever deserved the death penalty it's Penn State. I lived in that area and most of the corncobs around there care more for PSU football than child welfare, including their own. When something gets that big, burn it down and start over for the sake of humanity.

But at the end of the day, there likely wasn't a single NCAA rule broken.

Why do people keep saying this? It's factually incorrect.

Like every major beauracracy, the NCAA has a morality clause in it's rule book. No recruiting violations or violations of the godmythical 'amateur status' were committed, but the morality clause was violated. Huh. Violated. Pretty spot in term, there.

Yep. Most Penn State fans still believe that Paterno did not do anything wrong.

People at PSU committed criminal acts and were punished via the penal system. The NCAA had no right or jurisdiction to levy the penalties they did. It was a popular thing to do, and it made people outside of Happy Valley feel good that "those monsters" at PSU were being punished...but it wasn't the NCAA's place to do what they did.

For those who speak about some lame morality clause, are you serious? Coaches like Petrino cheat on their wives and bang their assistants and sometimes undergrads or grad students. Most big-time programs have "hospitality committees" of hot chicks who are there specifically to bang incoming football recruits. We've got players and coaches using drugs at every program under the sun. We've got parents shopping their kids around to the highest bidder, and boosters "adopting" kids so they can pay them outright. ****, at Baylor a few years back, their basketball coach lied to cover up the murder of one of his players BY another player...and he bribed assistants to keep it quiet. Morality has no place in the big $$ world of CFB.

If the NCAA is going to invoke some vague notion of morality just to hammer PSU, they better get their own church in order. Buncha lying, thieving *****.
