NSD was tough but when you look at the big picture, Richt and co. have put together the best three year recruiting stretch at Miami since the early 2000s. The amount of blue chip talent (4 and 5 stars) that’s been brought in the last three years (34) is slightly lower than the amount from the prior five years (36).
2018: 15/23 [65%]
2017: 10/24 [42%]
2016: 9/19 [47%]
Total: 34/66 [52%]
---------------------------------------------------------
2015: 5/22 [23%]
2014: 8/27 [30%]
2013: 10/20 [50%]
2012: 9/33 [27%]
2011: 4/19 [21%}
Total: 36/121 [30%]
This three year stretch extrapolated onto an 85 man roster amounts to top 10 talent and recruiting is on an upward trend. Richt is basically turning Miami into his Georgia teams but the bulk of the talent is now coming from South Florida which is an advantage.
Obviously adjustments need to be made on defense but on a macro level, recruiting hasn’t been this good in a very long time.
