NSD was tough but when you look at the big picture, Richt and co. have put together the best three year recruiting stretch at Miami since the early 2000s. The amount of blue chip talent (4 and 5 stars) that’s been brought in the last three years (34) is slightly lower than the amount from the prior five years (36).

2018: 15/23 [65%]
2017: 10/24 [42%]
2016: 9/19 [47%]

Total: 34/66 [52%]
---------------------------------------------------------
2015: 5/22 [23%]
2014: 8/27 [30%]
2013: 10/20 [50%]
2012: 9/33 [27%]
2011: 4/19 [21%}

Total: 36/121 [30%]

This three year stretch extrapolated onto an 85 man roster amounts to top 10 talent and recruiting is on an upward trend. Richt is basically turning Miami into his Georgia teams but the bulk of the talent is now coming from South Florida which is an advantage.

Obviously adjustments need to be made on defense but on a macro level, recruiting hasn’t been this good in a very long time.

Perspective has no place on this board right now. I think the bleeding vaginas will dominate here for at least 2-3 more weeks. Save your time and effort.

Facts! Apparently fans have changed as well, not just recruits...2nd rate fans want everything handed to them and want it yesterday.

They had a ****** final month of recruiting, losing guys already on the roster included, but that month shouldn't totally take away from all the good that got accomplished. They missed out on the A+, but the roster is clearly an A right now. They are 5 guys under the limit and while I'd also prefer them to have those spots filled with some combo Surtain, Samuel, Campbell, Mcintosh, Norton, Malek Young and DJJ the 80 they have are very strong and if they can add a couple good grad transfers (especially 1 of those Clemson DL) things will be even better.

No question recruiting is better. We're loaded up with better talent than we've had in a long time.

The pill that's tough to swallow is Florida & FSU had down years and made coaching changes, and we limped to the finish. We lost battles for multiple players to them down the stretch. It's probably not going to be any easier going against FSU & Florida in recruiting than it was this year.

Our recruiting was like our year on the field - incredible start, ugly finish.

If I could make a change in the staffs recruiting style for 2019 it would be to have them move off of the instate targets if they don't commit by a certain date (1 Month before the early signing period). That would give them time to rework their board and focus on building relationships with the next tier of recruits, mostly out of state kids who are still are open to moving for school.

The staff does a tremendous job of getting on kids early and developing relationships. But If the South Florida star doesn't want to stay in Miami we cant afford to find that out the evening before signing day. The longer it takes for a kid to commit to staying home the more obvious it becomes he's looking for any reason not to.

Signing Day matters, it's the momentum you need to carry you into the spring and summer recruiting.

Anyways It's probably a terrible idea. Im disappointed in the finish.

Rumph and Kul need to cast a wider net. If the 5* prima donna does not committ then you happily take the 4 star stud (Samuel) and then you can gamble on the 5 star longshot.

Yep the team is much better. Before we were competing with VT, Duke, and UNC, but now we are competing with Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia for championships. So while we have done fantastic our defensive recruiting now has to compete with the defensive recruiting of those teams and we are not even close. Compared to the coastal, though, for sure our talent is ridiculously op even on defense

Exactly, I don't think we would have been upset had there been other options at cornerback, Rumph got lazy or he got played. Neither is a good look.

Kul was caught off guard that the juniors left, which should tell you what he thinks of their readiness for the draft. But we should have had more options on our board. We weren't talking to anyone until after the dead period. It's insane.

You don't realize that the big state schools, have an attraction to many recruits that UM doesn't have. I'm not sure what it is, but I've observing it for over 30 years. One thing worked against us in the padt: the Southern kids, even the Southern Black kids, usually shied away from Miami. They wanted to go to Southern schools, even with the history of racism. We never could get kids, especially top kids, out of Georgia in the '80's. Usually, we didn't even try.

In the '80's, the Florida panhandle schools were more powerful than they are. (I think Pine Forest was a big power.)Outside of Ty Wise and (going way back,) Mike Rodrigue, how many panhandle kids did we ever get. It's amazing that we"re getting good kids from Georgia. In the 1980"s, we had a backup RB from Georgia, Shannon Crowell, but how many other players?

In some ways,we"re doing better in the South, especially Georgia. We really need to step up our Texas and Louisiana recruiting again, if we can. We need to try to get more players from the Carolinas. There seem to me more big linemen in the Carolinas than Florida, especially DLs.
