A Few Guys Arguing Non-Stop [F/K/A "Let’s check on Lane Kiffen"]

The guy has the anti-career trajectory but people are obsessed with him because it looks pretty

I’m not “anti-Kiffin” but when people start criticizing our coaches here and praising him at the same time it gets awkward really fast

Exactly. I have tremendous respect for Lane's offensive schemes and his general game-day feel for coaching and motivation. I'm not as sold on his recruiting and CEO skills. Doesn't mean I hate the guy. I loved his dad when he was coaching up the Bucs.

True.

But I would need to know all he has to work with over there.,

Like is he a good staff builder when it comes to recruiting. Do they pony up the money to allow him, to get those recruiters? How’s the NIL? Are they putting up the necessary money for that..

I think he’ll do great with transfers, with a year or 2 left trying to get to the league.

But yeah him signing what 11 players is strange, cause like your point, I would think more players out of HS would want to play there. But like I’ve stated above, I would like to know the answer to those things before I can full judge.

I hear ya, and I pretty much agree.

I'll just say this, I find it...strange...that he wouldn't have the ACCESS to build a better recruiting staff. Ole Miss has SEC money, and that money is deep.

My biggest concern with Lane has ALWAYS been his "CEO skills", which I believe are minimal.

He's a talented coach and a funny guy, but a program-builder? I'm not so sure.

They only signed 11 players. His avg recruit was 90+ That is top 15 in the country. Now maybe he should have gotten more players. Not sure what their roster looks like. But I'm not sure you guys are pointing out what you think you are.

Look, this isn't 10 months ago.

Lane has seven 4-stars and four 3-stars. He has seven in the Top 500 and four that are not.

Now, if you HONESTLY believe that the next 15 guys that Lane Kiffin signs in this recruiting cycle will fall into the same ratio of 4-stars to 3-stars, then I'll give you credit for the "average recruit rating" argument.

But to be quite honest...the number of unsigned blue-chippers is looooow at this point. Not a lot of remaining unsigned blue-chippers have Ole Miss as one of their finalists.

Now, I'm not a math genius, but I hiiiiiiighly doubt that Lake Kiffin is going to be able to maintain that "average recruit rating" across a full 25-30 person signing class.

"Averages" are great when you have 11 verbals AND EVERYONE ELSE DOES TOO. But when you are one of the only P5 programs sitting on 11 recruits, while everyone else has at least 20 kids signed...the "average" stuff goes out the window.

Maybe he isn't signing 26 guys this time. I have no idea. Maybe he portals in 15 guys. Kiffin has recruited well at other places. Maybe he did think he was leaving and didn't care. That's a knock for sure, but there arent a ton of guys, even with 11 commits, that avg 90+

An average that he cannot maintain, mathematically, across a "normal-size" recruiting class. Even if you include Portal.

Last 2 years ole miss was 88-89 so not sure why it's mathematically impossible to be around 90 but whatever. He has been sitting around top 20 in recruiting ranking, nit sure why this year is proof.
