Coming into this season most had us being a 8-4 team and this staff has these guys in the top 25 and in a position to be in the ACC Championship. It was rough to watch the game last night, but what it showed was this team still lacks the talent to compete with the top teams in the nation. This game also let me know that these guys are ahead of schedule in the rebuilding process. There are some very talented kids on this team but they are still very young and inexperienced. Make no mistake about it, the best players on this team are sophomores and freshmen, so games like this are going to happen. Despite the lack of talent on this team, these guys could easily win out and finish the regular season 11-1.

Regardless of what you think, this is a team on probation.
  • Miami only has 74 scholarship players on the current roster
  • USC has 75 scholarship players
The fact that this team is 7-1 with 11 less scholarships than every other top team in the nation speaks volumes about this staff

Miami caliber players
There are several guys who are playing on this team, that in better times would have never been offered. I will not name any kids but we all know who they are. The past 5 years of recruiting has really hurt this roster and its going to take 2 more great recruiting classes to change that.

I know its hard but we are very close guys. This 2014 class is going to be amazing and we are in great shape to have the same success in 2015.

completely agree, always thought we were playing with house money in this game, but got my hopes up...

Duke injury is the worst of it

This team is still 2 recruiting class away from having the overall talent to be dangerous.
  • QB: back to back elite 11 QB's will raise the level of talent at the QB position to a championship level.
  • RB: still needs 2 more quality guys. With Duke out for the season, Dallas and Gus will have a chance to develop. Yearby, Powell, and possibly Gray will add much needed talent and depth next season.
  • WR: The talent is there they just need more experience and to stay healthy. If Griffin can get in, he will give us that big body, red zone nightmare, that this team has been missing
  • TE: This position just needs to add more quality depth, but there are playmakers at this position
  • OL: This position is ahead of schedule, this staff has recruited this position very well (and Randy did leave some talent here)
  • DE: McCord and AQM are the type of DE's that will take Miami to the next level. This 2014 recruiting class will finally give us the talented depth that we have not seen since the early 2000's
  • DT: This position is by far the worst on the team and needs the most help. There is not one elite DT on this current roster, it is going to take 14 & 15 class to turn this position around.
  • LB: There are some good pieces here but they are still young. Figs, Armbrister, Kirby, and Grace could be very good LB's but the development at this position must get better fast. This staff is doing a great job recruiting the position and we could finally see quality depth by 2015
  • CB: This position has transformed the most under Golden. When he got here there was only 1 scholarship CB on this roster. This position now looks to be ahead of schedule to become an elite unit again. More experience and these guys will amazing.
  • S: This is position is still one recruiting class away, but the stud talent is there. Bush, Jenkins, and Carter are all great athletes with speed and ball skills, they just need experience.

Props! I wish the a lot more posters on here would see this more and not be so doom and gloom.

Also still do not have either the quality depth, nor the luxuryof being able to RS good players --- especially linemen & safeties.

But we're gettin close!

AC has some burn

Totally agree, but after this season we should be able to redshirt those guys again. I don't think guys realize just how important it is the redshirt guys.

2013 Class
16 commits
4 redshirts

2012 Class
30 commits
13 redshirts

2011 Class
13 commits
4 redshirts

Total
59 Commits
21 redshirts
Thats 38 kids forced to play before they were physically ready.

Again USC doesn't have 75 kids on scholarship. They have walk-ons in theirs 2 deep at O-Line, D-Line and DB. When Lee went down they had walk-on in their 2 deep.

Agree 100% FSU showed us last night how important it is to have quality depth at RB.

"Coming into this season most had us being a 8-4 team ... ."

That was in mid-August! What 'bout in mid-March? Most thought we'd be 6-6, or 5-7!

It's a process .... and it's working. But we ARE relevant again, in case you didn't notice.

Just think we should be consistently winning the coastal and fighting for thevACCCG on a yearly basis

I never once said we are not relevant. How many teams go 11-1 without being relevant? The fact that some thought 6-6 or 5-7 further more validates my point that this team is ahead of schedule in the rebuilding process.

Great post hopefully other fans put it into prospective of just how close we are. Lets hope Al keeps this ship together and we come out ready for next week. VT isn't a great team but we need to be ready to play or they can beat us. Everyone show up and show these boys we still stand with them.
