It amazes me that kids will leave their hometown to go play in places like Alabama....they grow up with all this pride in their school being the best, and even talk about south Florida football being the best and then many just forget about that and go play in places where just 40-50 years ago they wouldn't even be let into the school because of the color of their skin....

That last sentence is unfair because I'm pretty sure 40-50 years ago the same thing was going on at UM...

True, but at least UM voluntarily desegregated a few years before the national guard had to escort kids to class in Alabama.

You have to go back I believe 60 years for that. Pretty sure Miami was the first D1 school to have a scholarship African American, Bellamy I believe.

Please don't hijack thread! This is about our boyz staying home and building back the state of Miami- That is what brought us so many ships and what will bring us more. I could care less for most other regions. IF WE GET OUR BOYS TO PLAY HERE AGAIN AND LAST YEAR AL GOLDEN AND THE BOYS DID THEIR PART WE WILL BE BACK IN TWO YEARS. Need these boys and the 14 class and we will be spanking the college football world again. FACT

Yea it may not have been as notorious but 40-50 years ago a lot places had the same mentality... Both desegregated their institutions around the same time, I think UM were 3 years earlier than Bama... I just think its unfair to bring up 40-50 years ago as a point against Bama...

Sorry, wasn't my intention...I agree these kids should want represent Miami.

$$$$$$ has changed the game. We would be near unbeatable if our kids stayed home, but the $EC makes so much money for E$PN, that it has become a business, and these kids take the bait. Hopefully Golden can right the ship and make it desirable to stay in the Gables!

A lot of kids want the college football experience. They want to play in front of 100k drunks who have been tailgating for 3 days before the game, even when they're playing Savannah State. They want to be idolized by an entire town. They want to win championships, Heismans, and play in the NFL. We can only offer some of that, the city only gives a rat's **** when you win, and our fans suck. It should surprise no one that a lot of kids want out.

I see your point there. That said, if we win, Crap Life will be 78k stronge without a doubt. 100k 3 day drunk fans (Baton Rouge, Morgantown) I see you. But you and I know brother that when ANY team gets ticking to the tune of '01 Canes or **** even the '11 Tide (**** that hurt to say) multiple first rounders are possible. You can make the league from about anywhere, just ask Jerry Rice, Marshall Faulk, Jay Fiedler....wait

The kids get none of it so they shouldn't look at that... Schnell convinced those kids to play in Miami when it wasn't even a school of any tradition.... AG has to convince these kids... especially in the 13 and 14 classes...

This! There is so much talent in South Florida it isn't funny, these kids stick together, Miami would be a power house in two years.

Imagine if Golden closes out with Coley/Robinson, Bryant, Thomas, Collins, Kirkland, Grace and a JUCO DT. THat would put us at around 18 but what a class !!! Collins and Bryant are so badly needed !! we need these guys !
