5 years eligibility?

It’s a business. A lot of athletes that don’t have a procure still make a **** ton of money for these universities.

So, then 6 yrs if redshirt?
I think they would get rid of redshirt with this. I'm actually in favor of that change.

Let's a young kid get a ton of burn without fear from the coaches of figuring out when to play him in order to preserve his redshirt.

In Canada
It's 7 years from graduation of HS to play 5 years period.
Once you're 24-25 no chance.
We had a team who's average age was 27 win the natty.

That’s better.

If a kid was a redshirt candidate, he probably wont get burn outside of a few games anyway, so it will just make him discontent and transfer anyway because he has a 5th year guy in front of him and another portal guy as depth, lol..

Sword cut both ways..

So you get 5 years of an athletic scholarship? What about 5 years on a academic scholarship?

I like this move. But down does it affect other things?

Keep in mind that a court ruling recently forced the NCAA to allow a player to play two years at a JuCo and still have full eligibility when they transfer to a four year school. We're going to be seeing student athletes playing SEVEN YEARS of college athletics.

I do like the fifth year of eligibility in lieu of a redshirt year. Emory Williams 2023 is a good example. He played in his four games with the intent of redshirting then TVD got injured and Emory had to burn his redshirt, basically because he threw one pass at the end of the Temple game.

Five to play allows redshirt kids to play special teams and still not lose a year.

If you're considering NIL, I'm aboard, but only for OL/DL. They don't get the share the pretty boys do, but are critically as important. A WR maybe gets under 10 critical plays a game. The OL are engaged in five to ten times that in a game, so give them some catch up time.
