2020 5-star Trinity Christian cornerback Fred Davis traveled to South Florida last weekend to go against Palm Beach Lakes. After defeating Palm Beach Lakes 25-6, Davis made his way down to Hard Rock Stadium to watch Miami take on FIU.
“Great atmosphere, Miami played very well.”
Davis loves the amount of man coverage that Miami plays, but is also not afraid of having to come up and make tackles.
“Miami’s defensive scheme fits the way that I play. I’m a physical DB. [The coaches] say I will fit into their defense because I’m fast, physical, long, and have good technique.”
Davis is mainly being recruited by his area recruiter, tight ends coach Todd Hartley.
“My relationship with coach Hartley is great,” Davis said. “He is a person that will keep it real with you and tell you the truth.”
While he is also in touch with his potential position coach, Mike Rumph, that’s not all that Miami is throwing at him.
“Coach (Mark) Richt as well, I talk to him almost every day. (They’re) motivating me to keep grinding and pushing.”
What would it take for Miami to land a commitment from Davis?
“If God leads me there, I will (commit).”
Although the 6’0” 177 pounder won’t be making a quick decision like some of his other classmates, Davis is enjoying being recruited and will take things slow until the right school becomes clear.
“Right now, I’m just enjoying the process,” Davis explained. “What I’m looking for in a school is a school that I will get early playing time, a good education, good environment, and where I can see myself coming back there after football.”
Davis is only a junior which means teams were only able to start contacting him back on September 1st. Despite that, he is still being heavily recruited by Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, Alabama, FSU, and LSU along with Miami. Davis only has one visit set up in the near future and that is for the Miami vs FSU game on October 6th.
