Mario has been talking since he got here about building the team right, starting with the lines.

But then when we can literally close out the game and the season with a win by running it for 2, we don’t and settle for a field goal that means barely anything.

Why? Why can’t we run it for 2 when it really matters if we have been building the OL right, Marios specialty?

What do we have to build on at the end of year 3 if we can’t even do that to win the last game of the year.

Our battering ram had already been injured and there was no respect for the passing game. Much easier to run the ball with the threat of the pass. It's like you don't even watch the game. We broke the school record for rushing yards in a bowl game. Every situation is different. The reality is, it probably gets stuffed, then everyone comes on here complaining that he should have taken the points.

It was 2nd and 3 when he really made the mistakes.

With it being 2nd and 3 and up by 3 points, and Emory at QB, you make the decision then "we're scoring a TD here no matter what". You're averaging 8 yards a carry at that point..if you run it 3 times there's probably a 99% chance you get 3 yards.

Go 5 wide and have Emory run it on 2nd down. At least give Iowa state something to think about. Anything but a pass.

When it mattered, we gave up the TD on the goal line and didn't run for it on our goalline. Tough and physical frauds.

While I would normally agree, this is a much different scenario than normal. We had essentially a scrub QB in that everyone knew would not be throwing. That makes running the ball down there way harder. Hence is getting stuffed at the 2 for no gain the play before. Blame him more for having an unplayable QB2 than for that specific playcall.

They were stacking the box and Mario didn't trust EW to throw and the receivers to catch.
