3rd downs are a problem, Morris is a problem, but I honestly don't care. Morris and the offense are good enough to win games. If we had Duke, Dorsett and Coley and a competent DC, we'd be 9-1 right now, and a legit 9-1. We would have put up 40+ and 600 yards yesterday with Duke and Dorsett and Coley. Any talk about Morris and the offense distracts from the major problem, the GOD**** DEFENSE.
Can't convert 3rd downs. Can't stop the other team from converting.
That's how you describe painful football.
I was going to start a thread on this but will simply post my thoughts here. This is what I see:
* Stephen Morris "can" be accurate when he has a wide open pocket that allows him to step into his throw. When the pocket gets even remotely tight Morris goes to an all arm throw which is horribly inaccurate. His mechanics, especially below the waist are that of a high school JV quarterback.
* Stephen Morris has refused to run the ball. On 3rd downs, many conversions are made with the QB's feet. I realize Morris has a bum wheel but if he's playing he needs to play to win, not just go thru the motions.

Morris' mobility is clearly a problem, and could have been deadly on 3rd downs. I've lost count how many times he had open lanes for a 1st but couldn't get his wheels going. That is one "excuse" that is valid.
Still seems like he only has one option on 3rd down and by god, he is going to that option even if the guy is on the ground.
Not cutting it. That's for sure. I thought he had a heck of a first half. I really did. On target, throwing underneath for good gains. It all went south in the second half. Funny thing is. I thought we ran the ball better in the second half. It's nitpicky, but there have been maybe 3 or 4 times this year where he's taken off and run out of bounds short of the sticks and it's maddening. I understand he might be gunshy because of his wheel, and maybe his coaches even tell him to not take the hit, but ****, the game was on the line yesterday. Your the Senior leader, put your head down and go for the yard. Man, that's just flat out frustrating. Then on top of it, Al kicks the friggin ball and game over because the defense is shot. Earlier in the year he kicked the ball and put the game in the hands of the D and it worked. They were in a better place. But yesterday? Wow. Just. Wow. Oh yeah, third down. Duke up the middle. Oh, wait. How about my Mo ****** Hagens yesterday? Where the **** was that all year? Good Gawd...
