On 3rd and long (obvious passing down) we got zero penetration and put no pressure on the WRs/TEs.

On 3rd and 4ish (pass or run down) we bit on playaction and left guys wide open.

On 3rd and short (run only) we dominated. The DL busted through. The LBs were shedding blocks and making hits. The corners (McGee comes to mind) were sealing the edge and also tackling well.

My father and I, by halfway through the game, were begging for 3rd and shorts. We need we had a better chance stuffing the run than stopping 3rd and long passes.

I guess from a half glass full viewpoint this is good news going forward. We were very physical and showed great "get-off" on obvious run downs.
The talent is there (albeit young in some spots) it's time to get these guys in the right spot and start shutting down 3rd and long. (we'd be infinitely better with this alone)

I've been begging for 3rd and short for 4-5 years.

if we get to 2nd and long, we should just let them get close to the 1st down
