There has been a lot of frustration directed at OC Coley and DC D'Onofrio about their schemes. A lot of detractors have failed to mention that in the 2nd half we are shutting teams down and preventing touchdowns. While manufacturing offense to either change field position which leads to scores or putting together clutch game winning drives.

This is why I like our chances against FSU. They are a **** of a first quarter team. The announcers always make it a point to talk about their new found "leadership" but to be honest their leadership hasn't been tested in a dog fight. When things get really tough. I know that the odds aren't in our favor. But **** it Canes for life. We will test their leadership and we will test their toughness. They remind me of a boxer like a Mike Tyson, they knock so many of their opponents out in the first round we don't know if they have a chin or the conditioning to go into the title rounds.

Only thing is FSU is the #1 red zone offense in the country..WHen they get there they score..We cant afford to go down 14-0 in 1st quarter

Absolutely, we can't just roll out the red carpet for them in the first half. We have to weather the storm. The longer the game is close the more likely they will fade. They are expecting to roll and IMO Jimbo is coaching for haymakers early.

I want to see how Tevin Smith @ 218lbs fairs in the 4th quarter when Erick Flowers is pile driving him into the turf.

We have to weather the first quarter against FSU. They demoralized NC State that way. We have to run the ball in the first half and limit the amount of time Winston and Co. is on the field. If our OL comes to play we have a shot.

So premise of this thread is don't let them score?

I'm sure coach D and golden haven't been "planning" to allow the other team to score only to toughen the team up

If we can keep it close at halftime, I really like our chances. That is one thing that we have shown this year, we don't breakdown. We are mentally tough in the 4th quarter, we have the conditioning on our side.

This might actually prove to be our downfall against FSU if we don't get it corrected. FSU is not GT or Wake or UNC. There really wasn't much excuse for our defensive performance early in these games. If we come out slow against FSU, we won't be staring at a 7-10 point deficit we'll be staring at 28. Whatever the issue has been with the lack of execution defensively early in these games, it's imperative that we correct it. No more listening to sideline reporters talking about how the coaches are asking the players what's going on and telling them to clean it up. We've heard that twice in 3 games.

You can tell this team has been wanting to play FSU for the past two weeks and it's evident in our play. That is usually what happens with a young team but luckily enough guys have stepped up and kept us undefeated. FSU is really really good but I think we would all admit that we haven't seen us play our best. At least on the offensive side of the ball we haven't put it all together. Too many times I've seen our offense go 3 and out in under 30 seconds. I hope to see Morris step up and play like we call know he's capable of. He doesn't have to be a hero but he can't afford to miss throws that lead to turnovers. I see the difference in this game coming down to our running game and Morris making some NFL throws. IT'S BEAT FSU WEEK LETS GO CANES!

telvin smith is a lot like sean spence. he hits much harder than his weight suggests and can shed blocks with the best of them.

got a lot of love for Sean Spence. Guy was the heart and soul of teams that lacked both.....However when we played run heavy teams he was able to be neutralized at times due to his lack of size. Speed is his game. The entire FSU defense including their secondary is actually pretty small. They use a lot of deception and blitz to make up for it. The only team that actually tested them physically was Boston College who hung in that game longer than they should have. BC is a downhill team who will run on 2nd and 10. We need to be patient and run at the guys. TEST THAT CHIN!!
