25-26 Transfers

Scored 14 vs NC St, 20 vs Va Tech and 24 vs Wake Forest in non conference action in the first 5 games of his career. South Dade HS (Homestead). Intriguing name for roster depth.

I am gun shy taking guys like him given how badly we whiffed on the transfers we took from low major teams.
Other teams are doing fine infusing their rosters with guys from the mid major level. My issue with this guy is while he has good size and looks decently athletic if you just watch him dunk, he’s not super laterally quick and he can’t shoot like, at all.

Edit: After watching a full game and a half, this guy isn’t a guard, he’s a 3/small 4, he looks every bit of 6’6 with a plus wingspan. Super bouncy and really moves at a full sprint. Getting a little bit of Terance Mann vibes. I don’t like non-shooters at any spot, but I do think the tools are there for him to be a decent shooter, the shot isn’t completely broken it just doesn’t go in, and if you play him more as a 4 than as a 2 you could make it work. And with his size he could be a really good defender for us.

Nothing against the kid, but I'd pass.

He can't shoot 3's or free throws. Even if he's a lockdown defender, you can't risk putting him on the court at the end of close games.

His overall FG percentage is top 30 in the country and if we're going to be flipping over the entire roster, I woudn't mind having a bouncy wing with defensive ability that can give you 15 minutes off the bench.

Just based on initial reactions online it seems like he may be more in demand than a 15mpg role tbh

I could see bringing in Dean as an end of the bench guy in Year 1, with hopes of developing him into a rotation player. I just don't see him as a starter or rotation player on a top ACC team off the rip. He's productive, but offensive game needs a lot of work if he's to have success at the P5 level. Has some athleticism, is active and tough. With improved ball-handling and outside shooting could turn into a solid pro prospect.

And before anyone gets on here asking if we've got any shot at bringing RJ Luis (currently at St. John's & former Columbus player) back home, let me be the first to say NOT HAPPENING!

Didn’t realize that was Arturo Dean’s brother. Guess Oklahoma State may be one to watch.

Not sure what our guard situation is looking like for next season, but if this staff wants to look at a possible transfer PG who can defend and score the ball, they may want to look at George Kimble III, out of Eastern Kentucky. He's from the Tampa Bay area and has been a terror defensively and a very good scorer everywhere he's played. Last year he played at the D2 level as a true freshman and averaged over 18 ppg. Now, as a sophomore and in his first season at EKU he's near the top of many statistical categories nationally. May want to kick the tires with this kid and see if he wants to come back to the Sunshine State. Was recently named 2nd team ASUN.

Here's a story on him from a couple months ago...
