21 Carries = 29 Yards

Was it 21 carries? Everyone was saying 16 carries. And I agree that is unacceptable. Others have said its cause the line doesn't get in a rhythm which is why we can run the ball. Is this an accurate assessment? Our run blocking does suck.
 
So the Miami Hurricanes rushing performance should be on par with Savanah St and Murray St's against FSU because, ya know, they "have a pretty good defense."

We averaged 2.2 yards a carry against FSU, ND, and KState this year. Any time we play a solid defensive team the run game gets tossed by like the JV team. Pathetic.

I completely disagree. I thought our line played well. FSU was daring us to throw. I think they had a lot of confidence in their DBs vs our WRs....and no respect for Morris. Re-watch some of our runs....they had the box stacked.

I think the Oline is a strength on this team. They are victims of inconsistent play calling and inconsistent QB play.
 
FSU has one of the best rush defenses in the nation. We have a decent RB in Mike James and Duke Johnson who was 75% at best. I don't understand some people. Do you want us to run it for the heck of it?
 
Who said I had a problem with the amount of attempts? My problem is with us sucking at running the football against defenses with a pulse.
 
Tim Jernigan body slamming one of our lineman with one arm says a lot about where the o-line is at physically.

We are ranked 80+ as a team in rushing. That sucks and is indicative of a greater problem than just last nights game.

Football chicks on this thread are forgetting that final yards rushing totals deduct yards from sacks.

Our TBs both averaged over 3 YPC against a very stout front 7.

And they only carried 16 times.
 
Need a QB that can pick apart a defense when they stack it....no accuracy or good decisions makes it simple to stop the run...
 
Running game was abandoned way too early. This is the trend for Jed's weak offense. As soon as our opponents figure out this elementary
BS scheme we get exposed. This is exactly what happened last night, and last week too. To many tendencies that are not adjusted at all.
Rest assured if we don't adjust and evolve our Bud over at Va Tech will punk Jed just like Stoops did last night.

We'll never be a good running team if we don't even try to establish it.

We barely ran the ball, and the game was never out of hand until late.
 
If they're stacking the box with 8 guys, then they need to be able to make them pay for it by throwing the ball. Until they do, that's how teams will gameplan.
