This right here is the big one on defense for me:

Avg Rush YPC Defense - 21st @ 2.74 ypc ('22 - 57th @ 4.06 ypc)

No more getting gashed consistently and allowing the other team to control the tempo of the game.

a lot of teams haven't played someone with a pulse yet, most of them do Saturday (we don't)

should be the first week where the stats start to even out

Defense has lots of work to do. Not down on Guidry at all but..........defense is still a big question mark from what I see. A&M had lots of success. Miami made its hay with the turnovers.

Considering the fact they started in the red zone twice in the first half, I wouldn’t say they had a bunch of success. The “success” they did have in the second half was more so because of the lack of depth on the d line. Still a top 20 defense in most categories so far.

bump - updated OP

some thoughts,

offense proving to be in the elite class at this point - we'll see how that continues with really only one good defense remaining (Clemson)

defense proving to be very much improved in nearly every category outside of passing yards allowed, however we played a very good Connor Weigman and Bobby Petrino-led A&M offense early in the season so I feel that ranking will move up as time goes on

We’re also leading every game and that’ll make the offenses pass heavy and inflate that stat.
