I know this season isn’t over just yet but I was thinking about our roster this year and seeing how next year stacked up and I firmly believe we will be even better (and deeper) next year than this year especially with even just 1 more transfer:

Potential starting 5:

PG: B Joseph 6’
SG: N Pack 5’11
SF: W Poplar 6’5
PF: N Omier 6’7
C: Stretch 5 Transfer 6’10+ (fingers crossed)

The bench will be even deeper next year:

SF - C Watson: 6’7
PF/C - AJ Casey: 6’9
C - F Aire: 6’11
PF/C - N Nwoku: 6’11
PG/SG transfer
SF D Janovich: 6’8

We will be a lot taller next year that’s for sure. It’s a coin flip if we will get another Elite Guard or an Elite Bigman but I’m saying we get the Bigman, sort of in the Sam Waardenburg build.

I’m very confident that:

- B Joseph will take an ever bigger step in his development

- W Poplar will turn yet another corner

- Casey starts to mold into a solid scorer/rebounder

- F Aire starts to play in the role that Casey/Walker is in this year

- if the staff can develop C. Watson like they have with: Joseph/Poplar then he will be an excellent with Height/Bounce, same goes with D Janovich, it was said he is an excellent shooter/3Pt Shooter. Get him stronger and with more fundamentals and he can be a more atheltic version of Waardenburg.

- It’s unknown why J Robinson is yet to contribute at all but I would love to see him take another step. He is 6’5 as a SG and would love to see him be next years version of THIS years Wooga Poplar.

I think we will be prime for some good matchups next year as well. I expect us to be invited to a top tier In-Season tourney as well.

If Wong doesn't return, and with Miller gone we would have to strike gold in a portal player to be as good as this year imo.

Now in the days of NIL, Wong could make more by coming back to Miami then turning "pro".

season is over...

I think there’s a lot to be excited about with a Joseph/Pack/Poplar/Beverly/Watson backcourt and Omier/Casey/Janovich/Aire/Nwoko frontcourt.

Sure there’s some guys who have to make the jump, but Coach L has a pretty darn good track record of developing players.

The big miss was Rodney Miller but he simply didn’t have the athleticism. Walker is the other big ???? but he is clearly the exception rather than the rule.

Think about Gamble, Jekiri, ROK, Sam W… all those guys made transformative improvements under L.

Next year will be fun. But let’s finish enjoying this year first, because… I think we ain’t done yet.

Walker, Bev, and Wong all have eligibility left. I expect at least 1 to come back and possibly all 3.
As Cribby mentioned Walker/Harland were honored on senior day which is a strong indication what they’ll be doing next season…

Wong is another story altogether but I will not get my hopes up.

I’m also curious as to what kind of Non-Conference matchups we will be scheduling.

Would LOVE a couple high profile matchups like: Vs Michigan, @/Vs UF, Vs Marquette, Vs Gonzaga, @Oregon or Maybe a neutral site of Miami & Michigan State

Cribby is wrong. That doesn't mean anything.

-In 2021, McGusty and Waardenburg were honored on senior day. They came back the following season. (It took me about 1 minutes of Googling to find this, FYI.)
-L said during a recent press conference that we have 12 guys who could come back.

Agree it doesn’t mean anything. Coach L is hoping for some or all of those guys to come back. I think Beverly is back unless he wants to go be “the guy” on a mid-major team. Hopefully he wants to come back to win a championship.

I'm excited for the ACC-SEC Challenge starting next year, though we'll probably get stuck with Ole Miss or South Carolina.

L's recent track record with high school big men hasn't been great like it is with guards/wings. Miller, Gak, and now Walker all never developed into much. The last HS big we have developed into a solid player is Sam. Before that? Izundu.

Hopefully Casey and Aire follow along the lines of Jekeri and Izundu and less along the Gak/Walker path.

Think we'll try to keep this kid in-conference? Has had physical/mental issues but he was their leading scorer last season and would provide size.

IMO even with miller & Wong (likely) leaving we will be a very attractive transfer spot.

- experienced staff
- guard friendly
- fast paced
- apart of an elite conference
- consistent success with transfers
- very good depth/time players

If we can get a:

*PG who’s a natural facilitator/Slasher

Stretch big man (preferably at the 5) in the 6’9+ range who is good in the pick & pop roll

I think we go from Good/pretty good to the status of: Gonzaga, Marquette, Texas, Purdue & Alabama

Foolishly or not, I'm still not giving up on Wong getting a fat NIL deal to stay, one that will be more than he would make it Europe. He could leave a legend.
So you think Ruiz/LifeWallet will restructure his deal where they would not before this season, or are you talking about a separate NIL deal?

How did they let Panter get away from them?
