We offer kids from Mater Dei almost every class, they just rarely ever come visit or show any interest.First time I feel we’ve offered someone from that power house Cali school or is it bad memory??
Very happy to see us recruiting out there. Mater Dei is a consistent national high school powerhouse. Lots of high impact D1 players come from that school it seems like almost every year. Willie Mcginest, Matt Leinart, Matt Barkley, Desean Jackson, Marcedes Lewis to name a few guys who ended up in the league from there as well.
Mater Dei is an absolute powerhouse. They have been the best high school program the last couple of yearsI think we offered 4 at Mater Dei this week: this DB; Massive Polynesian OL; small, dynamic RB; and a top WR.
Like the effort. The QB from their team last year Is now at Bama with a chance to start as a true freshman. Amazingly talented roster.
Say What is right. Long Beach Poly was the preeminent producer of NFL talent for many years. Now, however, the Black and White populations in Long Beach have steeply declined in favor of Asian and Hispanic kids. Reduces the football talent pool. Thats the way it is in Cali.
Football talent has instead migrated to the Catholic schools, who, like STA, recruit from a broader geographic area. Last year, Mater Dei produced a top Qb who signed with Bama. The year before, they produced K Thibidoux, the top DE and number 1 player in the country who signed w Oregon. He had an immediate impact.
Mater Dei was defeated for the SoCal championship by the incredible St John Bosco. Bosco was ranked #1 in the country. Bosco‘s Qb is a Cam Newton Clone at 6’5”, 240. He signed with Clemson and will be ready next year. We are offering multiple Bosco kids as well.
Love that we are getting in the SoCal game of recruiting.
Yeah kids in LA are traveling crazy to go to top schools (considering LA traffic)Say What is right. Long Beach Poly was the preeminent producer of NFL talent for many years. A lot of programs do that know. Even the south Florida teams do itMater Dei collects the best kids from the rest of the Trinity League and then cherry picks Orange County Public Schools. St. John Bosco definitely recruits LA county since they are right on the border.
You're totally right, was an article that was best players that came from both schools and I got them mixed up in my rush to get the post down while at work lolMan, you're mixing your schools up.
Willie McGinest, still almost looking like he could play today, Long Beach Poly alum.
Same with DeSean Jackson and Mercedes Lewis.
Mater Dei is pumping them out for sure, that Bama QB is an absolute stud. Long Beach Poly was the premiere program for years during the time of those named above.
We aren’t landing a top kid from Mater Dei. USC.Didn’t make his top ten.
Anyone know of we are still recruiting him? I think he was on a visitor list last year but idk if he made it out here.
Doesn’t hurt that USC and UCLA are on a down cycle. If Miami gets on a roll, and Likens hows recruiting prowess...who knows? We offer kids from Mater Dei almost every class, they just rarely ever come visit or show any interest.
But over the last couple days we've been hitting up Southern Cali a lot because Likens used to recruit that region heavy at AZ St.
