6-0 184 out of Oscar Smith HS in Virginia

Reminds me of Tennison from last year

Maybe undersized but makes up for it with his speed and tenacity

Reports offers from VT and Ole Miss

Love the hustle at the 3min 15sec part. The kid def plays with an edge...Absolutely loved his ability to tackle in space at the 7min 05sec piece as well. Only downside is we didn't see him much in coverage...and if there's anything our squad needs at the LB/STR position, it's kids that can cover as well as HIT...have to be able to do both in today's Spread You Out offensive football era. Is he a Take?....I almost want to take him just for his competitive edge he plays with, but I with several minutes of highlights on Kickoffs, it leaves me wondering if there's some concern with pass coverage ability because those highlights, were well, not really highlighted that much. His SR tape could seal the deal if he shows he can cover the slot/TE spot

56 is my guy so we have to let him go to the NFL in peace lol.....but I will say that I'm among those who would try and get away from the LBs who HIT HIT HIT but can't move in space. We can take him and develop him but if he's having issues in space now at 184 idk how he can bulk up for the LB/STRK role and actually get better moving in space....

I'm torn on this one lol
 
Who was the last player we signed out of Virginia? Think it was a big safety who never qualified

Oscar Smith in Chesapeake turns out good players. I spent a good deal of time in Hampton Roads. Phoebus in Hampton is another high school with a good history to take a look at.

To add to this, OS has been one of the best if not the best program in the 757 for the last decade. State runner up for 4 of the 5 past years. Had a couple 5 star players come from there like Josh Sweat and Andrew Brown the past couple years.

For whatever reason neither UVA or VT has been able to get a pipeline going in that area so its been mostly SEC/FSU who comes in and get the top 10 players in the area.

Yeah, and then you’ll get a VB school putting out top kids but they alternate. It’ll be Bayside one year and Kellam another year. I think Quin Blanding came out of there and there was another kid recently from one of those or Landstown. Nothing like Oscar Smith or Phoebus though for consistency. Can’t remember if Great Bridge is any good.

VT had a pipeline into the 757 until they fired or stopped hiring black coaches. Also Chris Beatty selling Percy Harvin to UF broke the well open.
