Per 247:

Quarterback Cameron Rising (Newbury Park, Calif.) said Miami offered.

It's his 16th verbal offer.

Rising spoke with Hurricanes quarterbacks coach Jon Richt and landed an offer he's coveted.

"It's the U," Rising said. "There's no better place in the nation. Who wouldn't want to live and play in Miami? Who doesn't love the U?"

Rising said he's already built a good relationship with Richt that he only feels will grow stronger.

"He seems like a guy I can connect with," Rising said. "It's only going to get better and better. I can't believe Miami offered. That's a hard offer to get on the West Coast."

Miami has a strong lineage of California quarterbacks including the 1992 Heisman Trophy winner Gino Torretta who led the Canes to the 1991 National Championship, Ken Dorsey who quarterbacked Miami to the 2001 title, Scott Covington, Kyle Wright and current starter Brad Kaaya.

The four-star recruit is ranked as the nation's No. 7 pro-style quarterback and the No. 23 prospect in California in the 2018 class by 247Sports.com Composite Rankings.

Rising has high interest in Arizona State, Miami, Oklahoma, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Alabama and UNC.

As a sophomore, Rising hit on 191-0f-319 passes for 3,213 yards with 40 touchdowns and one interception in 10 games.

He also rushed 79 times for 756 yards with 11 scores.

Alabama quarterbacks coach Lane Kiffin offered his this morning.

"I think it's absolutely amazing and I just think Alabama is just an amazing university," Rising said. "It shows with all of their success."

I was sold on the 1st throw! He's only a rising Jr? Yeah sign him up like yesterday!

We just offered this kid....his film looks good for a sophomore QB and he puts up big numbers.

Sophomore Highlights - Cameron Rising highlights - Hudl

His film is better than most senior highlights. I'm kind of floored that he's only a sophomore. There isn't one throw he didn't show that he'd be asked to do at any level of football. On the run or in the pocket, he does it all.

I will say this right now, whoever has him ranked as the 7th best in the land clearly doesn't know what they're looking at. There aren't 6 guys better than him as a pro-style QB. Kid is **** good.

40 TDs to 1 int is unreal smh. what a pull this would be....sounds like he won't be too difficult to pull also.

I'm very familiar with him and his school. He plays down the road from where my son goes to school. My concern is that he plays at a lower classification and inferior competition in the CIF SS. The top schools play in the PAC-5 division which will become Division 1 this year. Until he plays against the big boys it will be difficult to say if he is the real deal and Miami caliber.

Either the dbs they faced sucked....or he has 2 pretty good recievers to throw to. They were burning the dbs. We should give them a look too imo.

I probably should read this before I posted....
But rather or not his competition was good or not, he still has the skills to play and develope here.

Yeah, im from northern california, and theres like 5 total divisions in the state, and it looks like this kid is in the worst division (SS=small school). So to see him against good competition, Camarillo is probably by far the best team he played (then theres a big drop off and Westlake might be 2nd best), where his HL's in that game were like 4 (good) scrambles, 2 first down throws, and one average TD in a game they got wooped on 49-17.

Now, being in a small division doesn't necessarily mean much, after all Jared Goff played in a ****** league and in D3. However, He threw 44TDs to like 4INTs and lead his team to 2 straight NorCal division championships and a State championship game and only lost like 4 games in his career. Granted he lost the state championship game, but he threw like 5 Tds and ran for another one in that game. Not trying to tear Rising down, but just saying, he plays in a bad league and they don't win. He's gotta step it up more.

In that 49-17 loss, any idea what his stats were?

Bottomlime, throwing the ball is throwing the ball. He hits guys in stride from the pocket or on the run. Yes, his wideouts were getting open, but even when they had someone on them, he threw to where his guy was the only one who could catch it. He sees the field very well as well.

As I mentioned in my previous post the CIF SS is changing their classification this year. There will be 7 divisions and PAC 5 is now division 1. I'm familiar with these schools because my son played at Oaks Christian in the PAC 5 and is slated to be in division 1 this year. Oaks won the Marmonte league last year and went into the quarter finals in the PAC 5 playoffs losing against Bishop Amat. Westlake is in the Marmonte and lost to Oaks.

Newbury Park is currently projected in division 2 this year but they will play Westlake, Oaks and Calabasas this year. Between these three teams there are currently 10 high D1 players on the respective rosters. Cameron will see stiffer competition this year and we will have a better idea how he fairs against good teams. Currently Oaks has Corral who is a rising Junior, a 5 Star and committed to USC. Calabasas has Gebia a rising senior who is committed to Nebraska. BTW I got to see Kayaa and Chaminade in the playoff game against Oaks on the sidelines his senior year. Kayaa was better that Dawkins QB from Oaks who went to Arizona and played some last year for Rodriguez.

I know nothing about those schools, division etc... What I DO know is his WRs were too open for the competition to be very good. Now, he looks like a very talented kid, but it's hard to really gauge his talent against that competition. He obviously can't be BAD to put up those numbers. Question is, is he good enough to put up similar numbers against better competition? That being said, if he had a more talented team himself, what would he look like? It'll be interesting to keep an eye on him and see how he develops.

Rising is by far my favorite QB prospect in the 2018 class. He is an absolute must get. Kid has the look of a future college superstar. I'm not going to waste time describing his style of play and his attributes as a QB. Just watch his film. I had no clue he was such a huge Miami fan. I am ecstatic about the offer.

Yeah, you know more about the new division/playoff system than I do. My last year was right before they changed up how you make the state championship game with the whole playoff. But I was able to make it down to the State Championship 3yrs ago where Marin Catholic played Madison, and then saw Serra Destroy some scrub team. Would really like to see this kid play some real teams in SoCal though, and with the new system, i guess they could.
