Davenport, FL — The state of Florida is particularly loaded with offensive linemen in the 2018 class. William Barnes and Ed Montilus visited Miami last weekend anf there’s another guard who’s making his way down to Coral Gables this weekend — Cleveland Reed.
“I don’t know that much about Miami because I've never been down to the campus,” Reed said. “I’m visiting this weekend for the Duke game, so my perception of Miami is going to change.”
Reed is visiting Miami for the first time this weekend, while the 6-4, 295 pound offensive guard has visited Florida multiple times. What is he looking to get out of his first visit to Coral Gables?
“My mom is coming with me,” Reed said. “I just want to feel the atmosphere, I want to see the school, how the students interact with the school and stuff."
But since Reed has never visited Miami’s campus, are the Hurricanes still in contention for the #8 OG in the nation?
“Miami for sure has a chance because I want to go to a school where they produce offensive linemen and somewhere I can play early.”
He also likes the Canes chances on the basketball court Saturday.
“I think Miami’s going to beat Duke.”
Reed has basically every offer in the nation, but what schools are recruiting him the hardest
“North Carolina, Ohio St. Florida and Miami,” Reed said. “Ohio St. and Florida are recruiting me harder.”
“I’ve visited Florida a lot,” Reed said. “Every time I visit Florida it feels like home, so I always have a good feel and a good vibe around the program.”
“I only feel this way because I’ve been there so many times. If I visit Miami more i could feel that same way, we just have to see.”
Ohio State -
“I like how they build a relationship,” Reed said. “They don’t even talk to me about football, it’s mostly about school and keeping my grades up.”
