2018 Nigel Bethel, Jr.

Seriously man, I'm not a UF fan. I hate UF and everything about it, period. For the avoidance of doubt, I hate FSU and everything about it too.

I think what you're seeing coming through my posts is the damage the last 3 staffs did to my outlook on recruiting.

If it's any consolation, if OCCC is wrong I'll apologize before all here.

I don't need any apology. This isn't grade school.

You're too affable.

I know. I'm working on it, trying to learn from you and a few others. I'm too much of a bridgebuilder by nature. I still support your mission here...whatever it is.

This kid looks like a project. He has almost no tape of him at CB and his tape isn't eye popping. Most of it is special teams and offense and he's not exactly out there running circles around kids. He will be a development prospect and I think there are more ready made prospects, such as the one we just lost, that are better than him. I trust the staff and evaluations, but I hope we aren't getting into the business of offering kids because they look good in shorts.

Personally, if we can land them and get them to stick then, I'd rather stick with Jobe, Hall, Frierson, Ivey, Blades and Campbell, and use the spot elsewhere. We've already got 6 Safeties on the roster and we don't lose any to graduation or the NFL next year. Maybe Finley moves to LB and Knowles transfers, so bringing in Jobe and Hall would put us back at 6 for 2018, which is where you want to be. And, if Frierson is a Safety, that puts us at 7. We could also use this as an additional selling point for Sherwood.

All that said, if we need to load up anywhere in 2017, it's at CB, but if Frierson is being looked at as a CB and we end up landing Blades and Campbell, that's 4 CB's in this class and Bethel would make it 5. That's starting to get a little crowded for one class.

If the staff can even get all our current commits to stick while also picking up Blades and Campbell, that is one insanely good recruiting job. Getting all those guys to stick is going to be one **** of a challenge.

IIRC he tried to commit to UF a few months back and they didn't accept

The good thing is with all the Elite DB's we're bringing imo we can afford to take a shot on a project

Maybe im in the minority but Russell has a skillset that no one else committed has and that is the "headhunter" mentality. You cant teach the fear he can potentially put into opponents from that "rover" position. Diaz's scheme has a position that is tailor

ummm have you SEEN Gurvan Hall play at all or??

Of course. I just think RR is a bigger headhunter. But of course Hall is the alpha dog. Theres a reason why McElwain swung for Hall and Jobe first then just settled for RR. But RR seems like he could play that "rover/robber" role while Hall can just focus on being SS and Jobe or Frierson can play FS. Oh well..thats that.

Agree with this. With a class of Henderson-Davis-Wilson-Edwards they can afford to be picky this year.

Dont think those guys are as good as you believe. Extremely unproven cohort there. Not even hating.

Nope. Bring in the top guys now and let things work themselves out. Guys get hurt, end up sucking transfer etch so you take a bunch..stick with the best, let the rest leave or whatever and then you recruit more hauses.
