Nation’s Top 2018 DT Taron Vincent Interested in Miami, will visit this Season

The No. 1 defensive tackle in the 2018 class, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy 5-star DT Taron Vincent, has made it very clear that both Ohio State and Florida State are his current leaders within his recruitment.

Despite, Miami not leading for Vincent. That doesn’t mean he won’t take a visit to the Canes during the process. Even though, he only has talked to Miami defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski once, he still has high interest in the Canes.

“I think the U has changed around with the new coaching staff and have a good shot on being back on top in a few years,” Vincent commented. “It’s definitely a school I would like to look into.”

Vincent announced a while back that he will be transferring from Gilman High School located in Baltimore, Maryland. Instead, he will be taking his talented to Bradenton, Florida at IMG Academy. Due to the transfer, he didn’t get a chance to attend Miami’s Paradise Camp last month. However, Vincent will visit the Canes this season for a game.

“Yes, I think I’m planning on going to a game, but not sure what game yet. I am looking forward to seeing how the new coaching staff works out this season.”

As the top-rated defensive tackle, Vincent is being pursued by a ton of major programs and holds 20-plus offers. Not to mention, being the son of former NFL defensive back, Troy Vincent, he was recruited at an early age. However, Vincent plans to announce his commitment at the end of the season.

“I plan to announce my commitment sometime after this season. Academics and the coaching staff will play the biggest factors in my commitment.”

As of right now, Miami landing or even looking like a potential leader looks to be a huge question mark. However, Vincent has heavy interest in Miami and wants to visit. If the coaching staff can get him on campus for a visit, they may have a shot here. However, Ohio State currently leads in the 247Sports Crystal Ball with 9 total votes.

The nation's top ranked defensive tackle for the class of 2018 says that he still has plenty of interest in Miami.

Bradenton IMG Academy four-star defensive tackle Taron Vincent told InsideTheU last week after the Ascenders rolled past Oxbridge Academy that he has been in contact with Hurricanes defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski and is hoping to visit Miami at some point in the near future.

"I have been talking a lot with my coaches and I definitely want to get down there to see a game," Vincent said. "I was hoping to get there for the [Florida State] game, but we couldn't travel because of [Hurricane Matthew] and our schedule."

Vincent, who originally attended Baltimore (Md.) Gilman before transferring to IMG Academy at the start of his sophomore season, is the son of former NFL cornerback Troy Vincent. While he doesn't claim a set list of leaders, he said that a few schools, including Miami, stand out early in the recruiting process.

"I'm hearing a lot from Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama and Florida State," he said. "There's others, but I probably hear from them the most."

Vincent was in Ann Arbor on Oct. 1 for the Wolverines win over Wisconsin. Michigan returned the favor last week when assistant coach Chris Partridge made his way down to West Palm to watch IMG Academy in action.

"My old head coach at Gilman is now at Michigan, so it was good to catch up with him," Vincent said when asked where things stand with Michigan. "But for them to come all the way down here to watch us in Florida means a lot."

Vincent doesn't have any visit dates set, but he said that he's eyeing trips to both Alabama and Ohio State in addition to the one to Miami.

"I'm trying to get there," he said in reference to Miami.

"It's good to see what [Mark Richt] has done thus far. It's always good to win."

Vincent (6-3, 285) is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 19 overall prospect and the No. 1 recruit in Florida for the next cycle. The 247Sports reads 100 percent in favor of Ohio State with the Buckeyes claiming all 11 picks.

Hope he's intrigued by our DL stats and coaching so far. Hard not to look at having Kuligowski as your coach considering his track record.

Does Hightower count?

Derp?

Lmao, I didn't say that Florida teams would never get a highly rated out of state player from Img...It was just a factual observation from my post in October 2016.

Obviously that trend stopped when Kaindoh signed with FSU last month. Got it?
