2018 DT Michael Thompson receives Offer

For whatever reason, miami cant get big time DT prospects to come despite having a favorable depth chart. **** is crazy.

You don't consider silvera big time? He's a 4 star on all major sites. Espn got him rated 105 in the country. I think he will continue to move up in the rankings for sure.

Love nestas attitude glad hes a cane and hes a take all the way but u cant just rely on a bull rush in college or u will be f8ked......but we got Kool and he will turn him into a versatile savage

I want 4 this class.

Silvera
Briggs
National guy like Trout or Thompson
JUCO plug and play (Goldwire?)

That's my preference also.

Not talking about just this class. This has been a problem for years.

We had golden and donofrio from 2000-2015 that's why. No one wanted to play dt in that scheme period

I thought Golden hired on in 2011 ?

He got hired decmember 2010, my bad I corrected it

Your point is valid though. Hardly anyone at all wanted to play for those guys except some hard core Canes. It does seem like we have trouble recruiting true DT's. Silvera is a beast no doubt but I hope we can snag another one or two.

Not so sure about that. Look at who Golden & co left our current staff. We've got a lot of talent on the DL consisting mostly of guys Golden/D'nofrio recruited. That talent just wasn't being utilized correctly by the previous staff.

I do think we can and should do even better on the recruiting trail. We have an incredible tradition of stud DTs and DEs and now we have the best coach in the business.

We missed out on the big time blue chippers like Valentine, ***** Bryant, and Jay-Tard Bostwick and got stuck with slugs like McIntosh and Norton. We got stuck with Silvera this cycle.

Can't forget that soft *** DT that Willis punked on Twitter. Clark

Silvera and Briggs are big time talent guys to me

In a 4 man DT class...IMO Silvera would be a #2 , Briggs a 3 or a good 4...Nestera a must get as best DT in Sofla and Briggs I like, but not gonna cry if someone takes his place. That being said they are both takes imo, and obviously if they are Kuhl targets that works for me. Both are takes, need to get Briggs on board if Kuhl agrees he is a take and we aren't slow playing, and then add at least 1 and hopefully 2 more.

The point isn't arguing with those 1 and maybe 2 commits there. It's that we need more. Tons of names mentioned in the spring and 1 by 1 they are falling off.

Nah silvera and Briggs is a top flight dt class. They are still underranked but both are top 200 players in the country imo

Nah, definitely need more...Briggs is the minimum we should land quality wise

Chatman, Davis, Friday, Trout, Thompson...Those are guys that look like monsters at this point. Briggs looks good, but he ain't them. Kuhl obv can develop em though, so although I'm rather disappointed and starting to give up on those big timers, I'm just looking for some numbers here.

Your talking one South Fla recruit that isn't on campus. I believe the post is referencing post-Wilfork, and he isn't far off base at all. Prime ready to go DTs are like dominant centers in basketball...prized as ****. Coach Kool can do more with less, but it wouldn't hurt for him to do more with more...he hasn't exactly screwed up Chad Thomas....love to see him snag a few 5 star ready to go road graters, but the price tag$ are probably too high.

Trout is the prize now.

UM
There is only one 5 star dt in the country(Vincent). Its all about how you develop players. Kendrick norton and rj mcintosh weren't rated 4 stars yet they will be top 4 round NFL draft picks. Kool has shown in the past that he can recruit 5 star dlineman(Sheldon Richardson, terry Beckner are proof of that. Kool will get his guys and most importantly COACH them up regardless what they were ranked out of highschool

Again, not talking about this year....talking about like the last 14 years.

252 makes an accurate point about DT quality in recruiting.

This is not a point on what McIntosh and Norton have turned into (no thanks to who ultimately got them both at UM)...and it is surely not an attack on the guys that bled at UM over the last decade plus, but anytime you want to compare Alabaga, Taint or L$U DT situation (****, trenches in general, but not for here) and ours... PRE-KOOL AND DIAZ and POST-WILFORK...please leave me out of it...it is too depressing.

Chatman Will come back around once The Vols **** the bed and fire Butch Jones. And we need to take him when that happens no matter the bull **** that he did to us we need DT's BAD

You sound like uf fans wishing we would sh*t the bed in our season so our commits would decommit....

Chatmans Dad and brother are BIG time tennesse fans and he is too...

I don't think the staff is interested in Chatman anymore. If we get Briggs on board, we're pretty set at 3-tech. We really need another 1-tech, which is what Thompson, Trout, or someone like that could be

Haha OK Thanks but I'm just telling the truth that BUJO is on the hot seat this year
I'm not wishing or hoping that they will do bad so we can flip there guys like UFags say about us but they are just not going to be good or win the east and kids will leave when they fire there coach and Chatman changes his mind more than a middle school girl and we need DTs that's all
He and his family could love whatever school I'm just making true statements that happen when a coach gets fired from a school

Very true I remember hearing that the staff isn't interested after he said he almost committed to us and then the next weekend committed to LSU with 2 of his high school teammates but he will probably be around later if pieces don't fall for us.

Would love for Kool to pull the Missouri guys in Thompson and Trout that would be Massive

I have said for a while now that for what Miami needs this recruiting season Trevor Trout is a better fit than Thompson. So closing out the 2018 dline class by adding Trevor Trout, Dennis Briggs, and Jordan Davis would be a very good class that brings length, speed, and power.

Go Canes

I like Davis a lot and i wasn't crazy about Briggs at 1st but the more I see him the more i like him he will do great things in this Defense.
That would be a good pull for Kool getting those 4 guys.
I understand what you mean about Trout being a better fit then Thompson I agree I'm just being greedy.
As much as I'm uneasy about only having one DT commit at the moment and knowing that the one Nesta is going to be a up and down thing for awhile I have faith that Kool pulls off a good solid DT class

Jordan Davis is long Gone, he didn't even visit when he was in Florida last month.

Ivins dropped a VIP note on Briggs' travel plans for this weekend. Anybody care to summarize that here?

He informed Ivins that he is NOT visiting FSU nor Miami.

I think he has a HS (football) obligation to attend.

He was on one of the tours set up coaches to work/help out at camps. Traveling to Miami adds another 5hrs one way. So a lot of OSS kids don't make it down to the bottom unless it is on an official visit or a for a camp where their coach can get paid for helping out at the camp.

So would say don't write off davis just yet.

That would be a great haul. But do we have a realistic shot with Trout?

FYI - Rivals analyst saying we’ll be one of his officials even though we were not in his top 5
