2015 Miramar (Fla.) wide receiver Kahlil Lewis had two goals while at the Miami NFTC on sunday. The 1st was to try and garner an invite to The Opening and the other was to gage where his body was at following an injury.

“I’m trying to get to The Opening, I’m trying to see where my body is at because I just had problems with my hips, just trying to get back 100%. The main goal though is to get to The Opening.”

Lewis was one of the many Miramar prospects out on the field on Sunday and it speaks to the high caliber team that the Patriots are ready to show this year.

“It shows that our school produces great players like Geno (Smith), Stedman Bailey and all of the rest.”

The 5’11 179 pound receiver made an early pledge to the West Virginia mountaineers, but is still in contact with a handful of schools.

“If I had to rate my commitment from 1 to 10, I’d say it’s a 7. I’m hearing from UCF, Syracuse, I like Clemson and Miami is one too.”

The ‘Canes have been pressing hard for Lewis as of late by bringing him on campus as well as staying in contact.

“I like the hometown, I like the swag. They tell me I’ll be a difference maker and that they need me.”

The Miramar product was in Coral Gables for the ‘Canes Junior day and enjoyed the great environment.

“It was great, first time on campus. It’s a great view and they have the new student center. I like how you can focus on school and graduate.”

As far as when a final decision will be hammered out, Lewis is looking to take his time all the way down until Signing Day.

Kid will be a stud wherever he goes. He's a hard worker and a good kid. Hopefully we can keep him at home.

Someone told me that Lewis is just turned 16 and acts that age still. He told me "physically, he's as matured as can be, but still acts like a kid mentally."

Lewis is maybe 6th as far as wr in this class but thats in a monster class of wrs locally. Most def worth a commit here

This kid is a baller, this must be a monster class! It is hard to believe that there are 5 wide outs better than this dude

Kid looks explosive and seems to have that "take it to the house" attitude. I still say the staff must get 2 of the previously mentioned top four, Ridley & Phillips preferred, to go along with Spence, but my preference is Peete over Spence. K. Lewis as a slot guy fall back like we always seem to need. I just believe Peete will be a big game play maker. What's the general evaluation of Spence? Why in the **** does Golden play music at practice? He needs to stop the Psycho behavioral modification crap and practice had and physical!

How does this kid compare to the other big names at WR this year?

Lower than Ridley, Phillips, Peete and Durante, but he's definitely talented

You take him if he is good and than factor in that this would help with Cole

We dont need help with Cole. He's a smart kid from meeting him and things ive heard and will do whats best for him and his family. Miramar is loaded and has legit to me 6 guys that are worthy this year to be on the team so just go hard for them and especially Lewis
