Many south Florida football stars spent most of their summer at camps, workouts, and college visits. One of those was 2015 University School (Fla.) defensive back, Rashard Causey (6'1" 185).
Causey got the chance to attend one of the last Al Golden football camps of the summer and walked away from the camp with an offer in hand.
Luckily for the hometown 'Canes, Causey has been a Miami Hurricanes fan since day one.
"I plan to be at all the big (Miami) games this season." said Causey.
"Well, I grew up a 'Canes fan. It's always been a dream of mine to play for my hometown school. I like their defense style and I like their tradition." said Causey.
When Causey attended the football camp he got a chance to speak with defensive backs coach, Paul Williams, defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio and the head honcho himself, Al Golden.
Causey, just finished a weeklong college road trip with two of his best friends, Quincy Wilson and Chris Lammons.
The trio visited South Carolina, Tennessee and then finished the trip at Florida, for the Gators' annual Friday Night Lights camp. After the camp, Causey learned he had been offered by the Gators.
"It was cool because it was my first college road trip. Plus it was with Quincy and Chris." said Causey.
Causey, who has earned the nickname "Flash", is normally one of the fastest players on the field. Causey, has been clocked at 4.45 40-yard dash, which as a sophomore is jaw-dropping.
On August 25, Causey and the University School Suns, will be featured on ESPN as they face the Homestead Broncos, and the No. 1 receiver in the nation, Ermon Lane.
"It's cool that you get to prove to everyone that you ready to be a D-1 player. You can show everyone that you are not overrated and show them what you are doing." said Causey.
