Denzel returning and the addition of this incoming class, this team will finally have FBS caliber LB's. This position is the weakest link on the defense in my opinion and I am happy that this staff is going so hard to upgrade it. We still need a better defensive scheme to maximize these kids talents. If that happens, we will now have the talent to make the plays when they are in position.

2014 LB's with an additional 10 pounds added to their current weights *In order by class*

Lol at Dwayne Hoilett

I think the spring is his last chance to show what he has. To many young studs coming in for him to not take a huge step in the right direction.

Yeah I think Muhammad is almost a lock at that spot for this point in time

Love what Shayon has done for this team with all my heart...but AQM and Fig on the edges is a vast improvement over what we trotted out this year. Going from "effort" guys, to southern savage level athletes.

Feel like hoillet is running out of time with number of big time players coming in. He needs to have a big spring.

I hop not on all of those except for Perry. We need those kids. Hope might offer some depth at safety. Dortch might still be something down the line as a senior, especially if some guys leave early. God know we need some at LB to step, and Holliet has talent. If all those guys move on cause they cant cut it, that is also an indicator that Al might not be this great evaluator we all seem to think. So yeah, I hope they arent gone after the spring....

I think Hope moves to safety. The guys I see not making it past spring are.

  1. D'Mauri Jones
  2. Jake O'Donnell
  3. Hunter Wells
  4. David Perry
  5. Corey King

I see what you are saying and I agree mostly. Not every kid is going to establish himself as a starter of future stud this early in the game.

Like you said, its nice to have kids like Dortch Hope and Holliet to provide depth and to be solid to very good role players toward the end of their time here.

Now if some or all of those kids leave this offseason, I would be inclined to think of it more a function of Golden being able to bring in higher quality prospects and not necessarily an indictment of his skills as an evaluator of talent.

I don't think, outside several notable exeptions that he has had the luxury of being able to be super selective with his offers. That has and will continue to change or so I hope.

Hstokes1447, I actually like your list except for Dmauri Jones. The only reason he should even think about leaving is if Berrios steals his **** in the Spring. (since BB is early entry) Or if by some super natural miracle Lane or Rudolph come. Other then that he is really an injury away from being our 4th receiver next year. (Coley-Waters-Dorsett-Scott) If DGriffin gets in I think he fights him for that 4th/5th receiver spot. If DGriffin doesnt, its really his for the taking. If he lets a Tr-Fr come in and beat him out he needs to go regardless.

King, IMO, has until the spring to show he can hang. The other 3 on your list need to be asked to "graduate early/focus on their studies" right after the bowl game IMO.

Not a fan of letting Dortch go. I still have hope for him for some reason. Think he will be one of those guys who finally gets his chance as a 5th year senior and plays well. Cant get a read on LHope.

I think Dortch is one of the best cover corners on this team. His problem is, he is so small that he is always injured. He needs at least 15 pounds before he can be counted on.

Also it looks like this class we be around 33 or 34. If DP returns we are looking at 55 returning scholarship players.

  • Returning (55) + recruiting class (33 or 34) = 88 or 89 scholarship players
  • NCAA max roster number = 85
  • Max roster number with a 3 ship band = 82
  • Number of players that could be showed the door = 6 or 7

There is going to be some serious movement on this roster to get under 85.
