I've seen Northwestern play 4 times this year and the one player that has stuck out in every game is #11 Michael Smith at defensive end. While he may be a little bit undersized as a true DE, he would fit perfectly as a 3-4 pass rusher. He is strong, fast, and has a great motor. He is vicious as a tackler as well and really attacks the QB. Watch this kid blow up in the offseason camp circuit.

He has balled out against some of the top competition as well. He had great games against Booker T, Southridge, Columbus, and Homestead.

Seems to be overshadowed right now. He has been the most productive defensive player I've seen this year though.

Saw him against Booker T. and Homestead and he jumped out. Big-time burst and motor, nobody could block him.

Why do they put such ridiculous height-weight #s on these recruits? This kid is not even in the ballpark of 6'3" 220.

He is plenty quick though, excellent first step. Would like to see if he can play any linebacker.

It's not that far off actually. He's probably 6'2" but the weight seems about right

Reminds me of Jerry Hughes....not sure he fits what we are doing on D, but **** he looks explosive. I'd find room for a kid like that.

He looks very disruptive on film and would fit the D they want at UM. It's crazy how many talented players are available in 2013/2014. Between this young man, Chad Thomas, Matt Thomas, Jermaine Grace, Skai Moore, and I'm sure I'm missing others, I cant remember a 2 year span with such quality backers... And all are very interested in UM..

Same goes for RB!

I remember before the start of the season, Fishstein an Blustein said this guy was the real deal and will be one of the top prospects in Dade for 2014. Projected him at LB and said he's a Golden type of recruit.

No way in **** is he 6'2", at least not when that tape was taken.

Looks 6'2" in person

Body type wise, do you think he's around Dwayne Hoilett?

Hoilett is more freakish physically as far as his wing span and frame, but Smith might be a better football player at this point than Hoilett was as a junior

Call me crazy, but his highlights reminds me of Eddie Jonhson,. Quick and very strong to the point of the attack. If hes only a Jr, i would love to see how he maintains that speed with extra Lb's on him next year. right now, he is a Linebacker all the way. should he put on like 15lbs or so, DE for sure.
