I guess it all comes down to what you look for in a WR when you evaluate them. We all have our own opinions, I'm a big fan of Bill Walsh and West Coast offenses, so I kind of like receivers that fit in to that system.
Ideal size: say around 6-3, 210
Agility and body control are #1 priority in my mind... the ability to change your body position, sometimes mid-air, in order to get your hands in position to make the catch. I don't really see that in these highlights, he's mainly catching the ball in space. Then again, that doesn't mean he doesn't have this talent.... it's just not showcased on the highlights.
Next on my WR wishlist is strength. That's why I like them at like 210 or so. You need to power through players. When you are bounced into players you must be able to keep your feet, regain your balance and move into position and continue your pass route. Just watch Jerry Rice clips to see what I'm talking about.
Hands are vital, they have to have outstanding hands. You have to assume the staff wouldn't be dumb enough to recruit someone who can't catch the ball. The difference between players is the agility and strength that was mentioned. That allows them to get into position to make the catch, to use their hands.
In reality, most catches are made with the ball and the defender closing at the same instant and the receiver having to reverse his body into a totally different position, get your hands up and catch the ball and be hit at the same moment. That is the key element in greatness -- agility and strength together.
What about speed?
Well burst and quickness are helpful. Long speed is not that important. You would like a receiver with the ball in the open field to be able to keep the separation with the closing defenders until he gets over the goal line. He doesn't have to outrun them. He doesn't have to gain ground on them. He just has to get there before they do so he scores. So it doesn't have to be sprinters' speed, a la Kermit Whitfield. Just get to top speed quickly, so you don't get caught from behind.
Since you have to be pretty slow to get caught from behind, 40 time isn't that critical in my mind. They just need to have a burst.
The other thing I think is important is durability. Again, that's why a bigger guy is better in my book.
