Miami Hurricanes to open most spring practices to public

The University of Miami announced Wednesday that 12 of the Hurricanes’ 15 spring football practices will be open to the public, starting with the 9 a.m. session Saturday at Greentree Field.

The only sessions that will be closed to the public are the March 28 practice and the first two scrimmages on March 29 and April 4.

UM also announced an addition to this year’s spring practice schedule — though it is closed to the public: the first annual South Florida Football Festival for high school and youth coaches March 28-29 on campus, featuring coaches from UM, FIU, FAU and the Miami Dolphins.

The first week of practices – Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and next Thursday — all begin at 9 a.m. Those will be followed by spring break.

Open practices resume at 9 a.m. March 18 and continue at 9 a.m. March 20, March 22 and March 25.

After the closed practices, the next open session is at 9 a.m. April 1, followed by 9 a.m. April 8 and April 10.

Practices conclude with the spring game at 6 p.m. April 12 at Sun Life Stadium.

• Hurricanes offensive lineman Hunter Knighton was still in the intensive care unit at University of Miami Hospital as of Wednesday afternoon, a UM source told the Miami Herald. Knighton was transported to the hospital on Monday after a UM offseason workout. Further details were not revealed.

Awesome. Wish these incoming freshmen were here already so we could see them getting in on the action. So pumped to see them in the mix

What happened to "With the exception of the three scrimmages, all practices are closed to the public"?

Another version opens w/ "UM Canes football program opening curtain to spring practice... It has been a long time, but the University of Miami has decided to open 12 of 15 spring football sessions to the public."

I wonder how this, & other media access/exposure, might affect "That Action"...
(i.e. Coaches' ability to get after players, and players' ability to bust their @sses w/ a camera in their face)

Except where it says "12 of 15 Spring Practices Will Be Open To Public"...

Update also includes: one practice & both scrimmages leading up to Spring Game are now CLOSED to the public.

Pretty sure when the schedule (and your thread) was first posted there was a note that all practices, except the 3 scrimmages, were "closed to the public.": www.hurricanesports.com/Feb.8

Semantics and minutiae.

Perhaps, but updates nonetheless...

If you thought you couldn't attend practices, now you can.

If you thought you could attend scrimmages, now you can't.

First concession from UM in realizing they're losing fans because of the product they're fielding. Trying to stoke up some interest by opening practices.
