Ppl say NIL has undone college football - actually it’s the Portal that has absolutely ruined college football. Everyone’s on 1 year contracts.

As much as I hate UGA, something should be said for how Kirby manages that roster, given that he annually has a Top 3 class full of top 100 players.

Biggest thing that makes Kirby different is somehow, he’s shown a way to recruit and DEVELOP his own QB recruits. So he can allocate the funds we’d spend on a QB for those monsters at DT and OL, and DE. This partly why I’m silently hoping that Emory stays and we develop him - if not him, maybe we can get Arnold and develop him for multiple years.

Give me Emmet Johnson, Sampson Jr., Anderson and Theran Johnson (speed on defense). We need height at WR and speed.

Anderson, Brown and Theineman absolutely should get you very excited if they came here.
Theineman is the safety from Purdue that everyone loves?

The other two you mentioned I haven't seen play, nor really heard of (not that hearing of the guy means anything at this stage of my life since I don't watch nearly as much football as I used to). The QBs listed are seriously underwhelming.

Yea Theineman is the Purdue kid. Brown and Branch are two electric, speed demon type kids. Talking top 3-5 fastest guys in college. Anderson is a 6'3 former 4* WR that has been injured but looked the part when healthy. All of them would be good additions to the team.

As for QB's, nothing is going to excite most people after what we just got treated to but there's some very intriguing names that cane keep us humming on offense. Mateer is everyone's darling and he would be the prize this year so far but Arnold (OU), Mensah (Tulane) and Weigman (A&M) would all be good fits in our system as well.

Got it. Thanks for the info on the WRs.

I'm not expecting to find another Cam Ward. Dude's incredible. Arnold is meh. I don't know Mensah, but I assume he's a genius (bad joke) and Weigman? Eh, I don't know. I'm now an Emory slurper, but if we can't find someone fairly better than him, what's the point? If we can get Mateer, great. Not sure who else might hit the portal.

My biggest concern above all is the secondary. We HAVE to get at least two bona fide starters back there. Plug and play types. I can live with OJ, ZP and Damari if we have two solid dudes via the portal back there with them. Maybe an LB and a DT too, but I think we will be ok there. Maybe a little young, but ok. I don't want to live through another season with the #24 overall defense.

Arnold and Weigman are both intriguing to me because I think they both were in bad situations/schemes last year and would benefit playing behind our OL and with our running game. Arnold especially. I think we need to bring one of them in and see who comes out on top between them and Emory.

I agree on defense. We need pieces pretty much everywhere except CB1, SS, and DE1. I have some faith that some of the younger guys are going to take a good leap next year along the DL but would still ideally like another DT to go with Justin Scott. As for defensive rankings, we ended up at # 60 in terms of scoring defense, 53 in pass yards and 19 in rushing yards. If we could get the 24th ranked, it would be a major coup after what we just had to witness.

We were ranked #24 in YPG allowed. It was a joke. I don't care if we were ranked #1, my eyes told me we sucked.

Bringing in another QB is fine with me, I would simply prefer to hold out for a top notch dude if possible. Yeah I know....I'm greedy.
