Wesley Bissainthe: Gaining weight was key to my improvement

LB Wesley Bissainthe is one of the most improved players on the roster. The junior from Miami Central met with reporters to discuss his progress and the USF game:

On USF QB Byrum Brown: He's big, athletic, can run. It’s just keeping eyes on him. If he tries to scramble, pulling up and make a play.

On his improvement: Gaining weight was definitely one of the key parts (Bissainthe is up to to 225+ according to Coach Cristobal). And having a more clear understanding of the defense. I’m able to react because I know what I'm doing. Watching film, taking it one play at a time and one game at a time. I feel like that could take you a long way.

On Nay’Quan Wright (USF RB and Carol City alum): Watching Nay’Quan for so long, I know he's a physical back. He can run the ball. But at the end of the day, I’ve got to do my job as a linebacker and stop it. He’s a great player.

You just do your job, read your keys, pay attention to what you're supposed to pay attention to, and everything will take care of itself. Control what you can control.

On playing in-state games: When you get to play another Florida school, it means a lot. You’re trying to win a game and be that team in Florida.

What coach d nich has done with the lb is nothing short of amazing. How many 4/5 stars have come through here and never improved after freshmen year or lived up to their potential.
