Three Hurricanes were recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference following standout performances in Miami’s 41-17 win over rival Florida.

Cam Ward (ACC Quarterback of the Week), Zach Carpenter (Offensive Lineman of the Week) and Jaden Harris (ACC Defensive Back of the Week) were among the weekly conference honorees, as announced Tuesday afternoon.

Ward made history Saturday, becoming the first quarterback to throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in his Miami debut since at least 1979.

The 6-foot-2, 223-pound senior finished 26-of-35, tallying 385 yards and three scores. Overall, Ward totaled 418 of the Hurricanes’ 529 yards of offense, the most a Miami team has notched against an SEC foe since 1981.

Carpenter made a strong first impression as a Hurricane, helping Miami’s offensive line dominate the trenches.

Against a strong Florida front, the Hurricanes ran for 144 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-foot-5, 295-pound center graded out among Miami’s top performers on a unit that only yielded one sack in 69 plays.

Harris led the Hurricanes defense with a career-high seven tackles and registered his first career interception in the victory.

The 6-foot, 195-pound safety also broke up two passes, helping Miami limit the Gators to just 122 passing yards and one third-down conversion on nine attempts.

The 12th-ranked Hurricanes begin their home slate against Florida A&M at Hard Rock Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Some of you buffoons said the same thing two years in a row about our transfer centers. Lee ended up being one of our best OL and Carpenter is off to a strong start. Maybe next year wait until they play actual games before opening your mouths.
That guy went toe to toe all day against a 6’5 430lb monster and his backup who is 6’6 340lbs. That’s that Big 10 toughness on full display. Kudos!

And for years we have said Miami has to get after those B10 OL.

Without knowing the blocking scheme and how it was supposed to be blocked, it's tough to assign blame. @mcnaire2004
I mean Rodriguez lost his match literally right at the snap. Rivers made an obvious mistake too. So I can assign blame on those two plays at least. As for Carpenter or just in general, sure, it's harder. But it's not impossible.

The UNC D-lineman must have been really good to have had a better game than Barron.
Based on the statistics, he had a better game than Barron. I was surprised. I felt like Barron had at least 8 tackles and 2 sacks. He was all over the field.

Ritzie: 6 total tackles, 5 solo, 3 sacks, 3 TFL

Barron: 3 total tackles, 3 solo, 1 sack, 2 TFL

Ritzie has a pretty awesome stat line for a Dlineman. He probably deserved the recognition

Barron was really good.

I saw Rodriguez and Rivers both get beat badly (rivers cause he decided just not to block the edge for some reason) on two of our TDs. Didn't notice Carpenter much. Gotta watch the full replay though.
I think rivers was too focused on helping Rodriguez.. it's a domino effect when u have a guy worried about helping someone who might not be on point.. they better get it figured out fast
