2014 Dwyer (Fla.) receiver Johhnie Dixon was part of a deflating 44-13 loss to Miami Central on Saturday night which now makes him believe they need to put in more focus during the week.
“We gotta get more focused in practice, we weren’t mentally prepared. We have to practice way more harder and come in with more intensity.”
Dixon still feels positive for the rest of the season as his team looks to make a deep playoff run and is trying to take it one game at a time.
“We’re looking at everyone, I mean this was a wake up call for the season. Mark Kelly our D-linemen, he’s a clown, but after this game he’s focused now I can tell.”
The 5’11 195 pound receiver has a top 3 of Miami, Alabama and Ohio State and recently got a chance to see the Hurricanes scrimmage and hang out with the coaches.
“It went great, met a lot of commits, a lot of great players. I talked to a couple of the current players and it was good. I talked to Herb (Waters), Duke (Johnson), Stacy (Coley) and Malcolm (Lewis). They were telling me that the whole team is family.”
While there, he also got the chance to speak with the coaches who are doing what they can to try and get Dixon on board.
“The same old, that they want me to commit and they want me to be apart of the team.”
Visits are going to be paramount in Dixon’s decision as he has set up two already for Alabama and Ohio State.
“I’m going to Alabama versus LSU and then also Ohio State versus Wisconsin.”
The Dwyer receiver is currently unsure whether Miami will get a visit, considering he’s visited so many times already.
“Not sure yet, I mean I probably won’t have to because I already know the place so well with the campus and the coaches.”
One of the big factors that will influence Dixon’s decision will be his mother’s opinion as he feels it’s only right she help him through the process.
“My mom, she’s been there since day one ever since pop warner. I have so much respect for her, she was at every game and me giving back to her that’s why I do it right now.”
As far as when a decision will come, Dixon expects to announce one following his last visit.
“Hopefully, by the time the last one ends sometime around there.”
When asked what will play into his final choice, Dixon rounded off four important factors.
“Education, stable coaches, playing time and a team with a family style relationship.”
