2026 shooting guard Josh Powell is set to visit Miami. He will take an unofficial visit to UM during the week of November 18, as first reported by Recruits Zone.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound small forward from Skyline Prep (Phoenix, AZ) has heard from Kansas, Mississippi State, Arizona State, DePaul, and more schools.

Powell shared his thoughts on the Hurricanes and his relationship with Coach Larranaga and Coach Matthews. He also shared with us that this is his first unofficial visit of the year, and is planning to take more while his recruitment grows.

"Coach L and Coach Matthews built a great relationship with me throughout the summer and always checked on me. Yes, this will be my first visit of the year, and I will schedule more,” he told CanesInSight.

Josh Powell’s Game

Small forward Josh Powell of Skyline Prep (AZ) has not yet been rated on any recurring platform but that is soon yet to change as Powell already has eight scholarships from D1 schools. Two of them are from Power 5 such as Texas A&M and Arizona State. However, the Canes have yet to offer him.

Powell gave CIS a breakdown of what his biggest strength is on the court and what he needs to work on before his high school season tips off.

"My biggest strengths would be my scoring, physicality, and mentality. I’m a 3-level scorer that lives in the mid-range and uses my strong frame to get to the rim and finish that’s what separates me from a lot of guards. Being 6’5 200 pounds I use my strength to my advantage and it helps me guard multiple positions 1-4 and be a dog defensively. Some things I would like to improve on is being more of a point guard at my size. 6’5 is common to run point. Right now I’m an SG/combo guard but I want to be more of a point and run a team and that's what me and my coaches are working on right now.”
