The Canes are already making moves to revamp their much-maligned secondary. UCF cornerback transfer Chasen Johnson is expected to be on Miami’s campus on Monday., as first reported by Gaby Urrutia from 247.

Johnson, a rising sophomore with three years of eligibility, played 452 snaps his freshman year. He started four out of the final five games and had a total of 14 tackles with two pass defections.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback graduated from Seminole High in Sanford, FL. He was a three-star prospect and received more than ten offers from Power Five schools.

I remember @gogeta4 liked this kid last year as a sleeper recruit. I liked his HS tape. Played a lot as a frosh, not the greatest tackling stats according to PFF but held his own.

Don’t destroy me , can the portal players commit this week ?

We need people who can actually over . I expect cb to whiff on tackles just not lbs all the time

Ya it was more of an observation than a critique. Obviously he showed something to get on the field as a frosh and was starting by end of year. I did like the high school tape, he can mirror and finds the ball well.

Mario needs to act like his Job is online every year imo . Yeah I get it you have a big long contract but I don’t see a big program picking him up again if he fails at Miami
I will say this about Mario

I think he does that. I think he cares more about all of this and his roster more than any other human being on the planet

One thing I never question with him is his effort and work ethic and I’m sure he loses sleep at night about his CB room. Just gotta deliver

Can he play in the bowl game?

I ask in jest but I really am curious how that works.

Probably not in ours since school is out and I think he has to be a student but realistically a transfer could transfer into a new school in early January and then play in the playoffs?
