A very good DE room became a potentially great room with the addition of Tennessee transfer Tyler Baron. The 6’5, 260-pound senior met with reporters to discuss camp:
On the DL group: It’s really competitive. Everybody's trying to compete against each other. It’s a real healthy relationship. It's no hatred or no envy or anything. It’s been a really good kind of competitive room. It’s easy to try to push yourself to be the best in everything you can.
On how he might be used: We play up and down the line, so really anywhere. I’m just glad to be here. I just want to win, to be honest, so whatever it takes.
On Jalen Rivers and Francis Mauigoa: Both of those guys are really good tackles, each in their own individual way. It’s just their willingness to get better. Us going back and forth, talking, and trying to see what they can give me to make me better. From my side, I tell them what they can improve their game on. So I think the relationship has been really beneficial.
On his experience with the Gators as a former Tennessee Vol: They're a good team. They're going to be really competitive. We just need to stay focused and not allow the environment to get to us. It is a good environment, but I think we're going over with the right mindset. Everything will take care of itself.
On Akheem Mesidor: A really, really dynamic guy. He can play up and down the line. It’s really fun to play alongside him because he plays as hard as I do. It's definitely a fun group.
On how he’s come along individually: I've come along really well. We have a great staff with Coach Taylor and everybody that helps around him. They've done a great job of keeping me involved. I’ve been putting in the effort and just trying to learn as much as I can and just take every nugget I can.
