Just a quick update here - Offensive line target Toryque Bateman says he will be announcing his decision on January 28th.

The Gadsden City, Alabama product told CanesInSight.com this afternoon that he will be visiting Miami officially in the coming weeks and is going to set the date very soon. He also added that Miami coaches told him they will be coming to visit him in-home as well, possibly this week.

Do you like our chances with him Pete?

Don't know yet because he's never visited but the kid seems genuinely interested. I don't think this would be a free trip.

I get the feeling that this staff knows how to close.

Going to be a well oiled recruiting machine these next two months.

DON'T GET CARPAL TUNNEL, PETER.

For once I actually feel confident it's just gotta be out time to shine for once.

Get back to where we belong.

I'm not sold on Telfort given that he was beaten like a government mule the last game. I remember Coach Macho's evaluation of him and couple that with how he's handled his recruitment, I'm more sold on Bateman. Having said that, this is not a hard stance as I know very little in terms of evaluating offensive linemen.

Pay attention to motor and toughness, and you'll be ahead of most people when it comes to evaluating interior linemen. If you see a mentally soft OL getting raves from recruiting nerds solely based on measurables, then beware.

What if you see mentally soft recruiting nerds making evaluations about motor and toughness?

Hopefully we can get Bateman and Slaton. There are another 2 prospects, I can't remember, but I keep thinking one is the Georgia guard that played with Sherriffs. If we can get 3 to go with current commits then the OL rebuild will be on solid footing.

I agree with you, chise. I know it's good for a linemen to have good leverage as well as foot skills. But you're right, if you don't have a lineman with a mean streak; then they seldom workout.

This will be a kid that comes to Miami for an OV and is just blown away. Louisville can't match the stuff he will see here and the playing time and everything we can offer.

I'm not gonna complain about getting a 6'8 310 pound dude that looks like he can play and actually moves very well for that size.

That would be Caleb Chandler and also Tony Gray a Gwinett County O-lineman that Ga is slow playing in hopes of bigger fish. Both 4 star players that Canes should be all over.

Like how the staff is trying to load up a lot and keeping options open at the OL spot

Bateman has scheduled his final OV to The U according to 247.

he big.

Miami really likes him. They think he's a better prospect than Telfort
