The Washington Brothers enter the transfer portal

The winter transfer portal officially opens tomorrow, but two young Hurricane defenders have already announced they’re leaving the program.

Robby and Bobby Washington declared their plans to enter the portal on Sunday after spending two years at Miami. Bobby played limited snaps on defense this year and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Robby was highly recruited after coming out of high school and receiving offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and LSU, among many others. He switched from wide receiver to defensive back prior to this season.

We wish them both the best of luck wherever they go.

Johnson was buried behind depth and couldn't get enough carries to justify him staying but the Washington bros should have absolutely been playing.

All we hear about is how the underperforming LBs are slow and cant run sideline to sideline and Bobby is one of our fastest players on the entire team.

Robby didnt get any snaps even though the CBs were terrible and hit with the injury bug.

The coaches should have let others play. the ones that they kept marching out there weren't getting it done. I cant blame them for leaving.

This team needs brains connected to legs. We always get one or the other.

Robby was much better suited for WR than defense, having watched him in high school. He's explosive af

Bobby had some injuries and likely some off the field issues

They probably end up at UCF, or maybe Louisville or Duke.

I liked the comment about our development of young players. I don’t agree that it’s on our coaches though. A lot of good high school players show up and expect to be starters, and don’t have the patience to put in the work and be ready when they get there chance. Oj played his *** off as a freshman. I believe the portal has made it very difficult on both sides. Players aren’t patient and coaches can’t play everyone at the same time. Not saying I was happy with the defensive play calling all year, but I’ve got to believe these guys are being taught the correct way. How many good players leave school to enter the portal and never go anywhere. Years ago like the one guy mentioned you went to a program you wanted to be with and it meant something more. I can’t imagine going to a school that ou dreamed of playing for and walking out on your friends and teammates because I’m not playing. Stick with your teammates and if you’re not playing try harder and get better . Well good luck to the guys that leave, but look yourself in the mirror. Plenty of great players didn’t start until there junior year. GO CANES!!!!!!!!!!

some guys cant put on the weight ether.some guys dont respond to s&c.
also, Mario won't overpay to keep certain guys.

i hate our developement of young players…. Tripp loved being a cane .. back in the days, we had guys on the bench no cracking the starting lineup…. Then when they played, they were as good or better….what the ****!
Hard to develop young players when they leave. Not sure if some are being pushed out or even talked to the coaches yet, but it’s hard to out this on player development. **** Bobby just switched to corner
