Never seen so much worship for a 3rd year coach and organization that never been better than 7-5 it's unreal. Let these kids go waste away in Gainesville go 7-5 while we compete for playoffs year after year. But apparently it's a bad situation to Stubbs lol
Yes, marketing is the name of the game. Whether you are 10-2 or 7-5, the job is to sell optimism. It’s a key reason why Cristobal got good classes after bad seasons. UF has the SEC branding and promising QB who will be there for 2-3 more years. The perception is their team looked shaky at the start but improved as the season went on.
The perception widely held around cfb - Fair or unfair - is that UM choked. We had the best offense in the country, yet it is likely we will miss the playoffs and didn’t even make it to the ACC championship game. End result is we get a slightly better meaningless bowl game than a 7-5 Gators team in a year 3. Woo hoo.
If I’m a coach at another program I’m saying, “Look at their schedule next year” just like we said UF had a brutal schedule this year and a bunch of likely Ls. And I’m also saying “they’ve got no QB next year and you saw that defense. With all their hype and NIL, the best they could do was field the worst defense in program history. If UM is lucky they win 7 games next year. Cristobal will be on the hot seat, and they could be looking for a new HC in your sophomore season.”
Is that all exaggerated? Some of it. But Cristobal needs to address those concerns and I think it’s going to be tough to do it because he does have a track record of choking.

Miami played 6 away games against bowl eligible teams and went 4-2.

Not sure why this is hard to understand. Doesn’t matter LSU is down or Ole Miss 9-3. They are part of the bigger brand. Nobody really gives a **** about the Syracuse and Georgia Techs of the ACC. Neither have been relevant in recent memory, except for beating us. Most fans/kids couldn’t name Fran Brown or Brent Key as their corch. Every single recruit knows Brian Kelly and Lane Kiffins name.

We did the same thing as Florida with our 2023 and 2024 classes. If you want good talent, you need to drop bags. If you don’t want to spend money, you’ll never be a contender. End of story
Exactly. It's annoying as ****. They beat a couple 3 and 4 loss teams and a garbage fsu team now they are on some national championship trajectory after having 3 straight losing seasons lol...and everyone glorifying lagway needs to pumped the brakes a bit. Sure he's looked pretty good for a true freshman but his numbers aren't just jumping off the page. He looked pretty normal against fsu. Also 11 tds and 7 ints on the season isn't stellar
And I won't lie i have some fear that it's partly true. I really want another proven QB in the portal and proven DBs. Would love Mateer but not sure thats possible with what Oklahoma did hiring his OC and rumors he's all but locked up there
