This morning, LB recruit Kellen Wiley (Seffner) announced he is not visiting Miami this weekend.

I’m told this is NOT a drop situation. The staff really likes Kellen Wiley.

Miami has decided to move this weekend’s visitors (including Mykah Newton and Malachi Toney) to after signing day.

There are a couple reasons for this. First, these players have playoff games for their high school teams tomorrow. So it would have been a shortened, lower-quality visit.

Second, and most importantly, the team is in lockdown mode as it pushes towards its goal of an ACC Championship. There are usually a lot of recruits in the building on Sunday unofficials. That’s not happening this week. Everyone is completely locked in on getting ready for the home stretch.

Recruiting will continue, obviously, and remains paramount. But the decision was made to avoid visits during such a key time for the program.

The unfortunate part with Wiley is that, unlike Newton and Toney, he isn’t a commit. So the timing is off. But again, this decision applies to every recruit set to visit and is being made for the sole purpose of winning on Saturday, winning next week, and accomplishing the team’s goals for the season.

There's clearly a budget.

We might have deep pockets, but if Florida are throwing what remains of their budget at this kid, for example, we're always going to be outbid when we've got several big fish still on the line.

Yeah but neither the kid nor parent has said or did anything on toward to deserve bs just for the sake of “I’m just keeping it real”. A message board is a message board but common sense and self awareness should still be applied no?

Bruh they lost 5 games and beat trash teams and showed no progress for three seasons. Got absolutely murdered by us, miss me with progress. We would be flying banners if Mario did what Billy did for three seasons.

Personally, I believe these recruits are using UF to bid up the NIL knowing they have to pay the suck tax. I don't think they'll go to UF though. I think schools like Miami, Bama, UGA, Taint, Oregon, etc will say they'll match, or they'll even pay slightly less than UF, knowing no one wants to go to UF except some locals and legacies. I think money matters to recruits, but not so much they'll go to a ****** program if any other winning / quality culture program is in the ballpark. ... Again, let's see.

Bad teams are usually bad because they lack financial investment in football. There are some bad teams that recruit well. Bad teams like auburn are recruiting great. They are throwing tons of money around. Good for them. I think you are splitting hairs with my argument anyway. Wins matter but if you lose a ton of games and can sell a recruit on winning in the future, I don’t really view that the same as landing recruits due to winning.

These are kids we talking bout man. lol they not dissecting all of that. The narrative out there is that uf has looked and been playing better and then recruits was there for the lsu game. Add a bag and lagway on top of that

Is one of the top nil schools so why haven’t we reached that elite level recruiting yet? Mario is known as a elite recruiter and why do you think he is putting a emphasis on winning this year?

Do you have any idea what goes into a recruiting weekend? It's not just the head coach hanging out with the player over a nice dinner. It involves the staff, the team, activities, etc. Mario is absolutely right in wanting the PROGRAM to focus on the next two weeks, which may as well be playoff games, and realizing that in doing so the wouldn't be able to give recruits the full recruiting weekend experience they deserve.

All those other coaches recruiting was like amateurs compared to where we at now on the trail. And it still isn’t good enough yet, but it can get there with the effort and some patience. These are our best classes ever since Butch
