In the span of six days in late June, Miami picked up nine verbal commitments. Eight of which were in the 2014 class. The sole 2015 commit was outside-linebacker Charles Perry from Royal Palm Beach, Florida.
At six-foot-two, 200-pounds, Charles Perry is a beast. But luckily for the 'Canes, Perry has been a Miami fan all his life.
"I've been a 'Canes fan since I was seven years old." said Perry.
There is no doubt about Charles' work ethic as he and his teammates at Royal Palm Beach high school have spent the better part of their summer working out.
"Monday through Thursday at 6 A.M. Working out, running, going over the play book, watching film and all that good stuff." said Perry.
On June 23rd, Perry attended the Al Golden football camp for the second straight year.
"I went last year and I went this year. This year we had a good time training with the linebackers coach, coach Barrow. Then coach Barrow took my family and I on a tour of the school. It was nice to see the new facilities. Then I had a good conversation with Al Golden, and everything went from there. I got offered and I committed." said Perry.
Perry said he felt like he knew he was going to get offered heading into the camp and he obviously didn't waste anytime committing as he committed on the spot.
So does Charles feel like he has to be a leader or ambassador of this 2015 recruiting class?
"Yes, honestly, it's just a blessing. I didn't know I was the first commit for 2015 until like 2-3 days after I had committed." said Perry.
Even though Miami was and still is Charles' dream school, he isn't closing his recruitment just yet.
"I mean I want to say I'm 100% a Hurricane but you never know what could happen. I still have two years left of high school." said Perry.
