It's a sign that they are having a lot of trouble proving anything of merit. Much of the accusations involving the football program are similar to the one against Dequan Jones. This isn't any surprise, as it's been talked about for quite some time, but they are relying heavily on the word of a convicted felon. Much of this stuff is EXTREMELY difficult to substantiate and them not being able to prove anything concerning Dequan COMBINED with the fact that they are attacking Haith (a coach) as hard as they are, can't be construed as anything else but good news for us.

They couldn't prove that $10K went to Jones, but they seem to have learned that $10K was repaid to Shapiro's mother by UM assistant coaches, for some reason. Odd.

Not sure it was 10k paid to Shapiro's mother. Just money from a camp...this could fall into the same category of violation as Hurtt who took a loan from Shapiro and paid it back.

I find this questionable at best.

"Ma. Tell these suits you got some cash from a dude in a track suit."

"Okay Nevvie. You make sure to eat your vegetables"

And they slapped a three year show-cause on Hained for an allegation they couldn't directly tie to him? I don't like that at all. My body is ready.

+1 w/ Jerzey. I took it that way too. Hope we're right in our reaction to the news.

I don't think they are alleging he paid 10k for Jones. I think they are alleging he lied about where this camp money went and have proof of it. My guess is Haith took an "illegal" loan from Shapiro like Hurtt did. Fortunately this is a charge that shouldn't hurt UM much, if at all. The illegal contact with recruits stuff will, but that's minor I think.

I absolutely hate everything about Haith. Not good for our programs, but this is a silver lining....

totally off topic but WTF with the repeated re posts of news articles...if this is why everyone had an uproar cuz I posted something that was already posted I know see the light...annoying as fug....Side note..I did it accidentlly but see the point....

Back on topic...
Dont know what to think given the recent developments. My heart is saying that we have seen the worst (i.e., self imposed bowl bans) but with the National Council of Aspergers Anonymous, nothing will suprise me

Bruce Feldman @BFeldmanCBS
Am told by source Lville asst Clint Hurtt got his call from NCAA (Shapiro case) & "they're pretty much throwing everything at him."

You guys are about to be amazed what a mountain of attorneys, Mike Glazier and cooperating with the NCAA will do for any penalties. We won't skate but if UM loses more then 15 scholarships I'd be surprised.

And Donna Shalala and her Washington contacts.
