Fort Myers (Fla.) running back Darrian Felix showed everyone his athleticism on Sunday at the Nike Opening Orlando Regional by not only winning the running back MVP award, but also recording the highest spare rating at 128.76.
Felix has been hearing from schools ever since his freshman year and now has 10 offers including Miami, Louisville, West Virginia and Boston College.
The Hurricanes have been in contact with Felix since his freshman year and with new head coach Mark Richt now at the helm, the Hurricanes haven’t let up on letting Felix know he’s wanted in Coral Gables.
“Miami is talking to me everyday, I’m usually talking with coach (Craig Kuligowski) Kool and coach (Mike) Rumph,” Felix said. “They can’t wait for me to get down there and meet them”
Felix hasn’t visited Miami in the past year, but has plans of getting on campus during the teams spring football sessions.
The 5’10 189 pound running back said he will mostly be focused on the atmosphere and the relationship the players have down in Miami.
“I’m just trying to see how they interact with each other, the teammates and I’m just trying to get a feel for the school.”
Felix also speaks with head coach Mark Richt on Twitter and says he enjoys speaking with Richt due to his focused nature.
“We go back and forth on Twitter a lot, I like him a lot,” Felix said. “He’s a cool guy, he’s determined to want to be great and I like that about him.”
The Cardinals are also in the mix for the Fort Myers product and says he does plan on visiting sometime soon.
“I speak with Coach Denson from Louisville, I’ll probably visiting sometime during the summer,” Felix said.
Felix will also be seeing the West Virginia Mountaineers on March 13th and the North Carolina Tar Heels on April 2nd.
